Pulling the trigger tomorrow

After a very long internal debate / thought process and looking at the 4runner & Tacoma, I'm finally going to pull the trigger tomorrow for a 2013 Double Cab Tacoma Sport Long bed in Silver. I have two questions:

    1) The sticker is $33,156, but I received a quote from a major dealer in the area for a price of $29,540 before taxes and BS fees. Is this a good deal or should I push them lower? The dealer I plan to buy at is different (closer) than that one that sent me the quote, as they have the exact vehicle in stock that I want.

    2) What "extras" should I try and negotiate on? I was thinking all weather mats and a chrome exhaust tip. Anything else I should push for? We do want a locking tail gate, step boards and a torneau cover. Am I better off buying these after the fact?

    Thanks,
    Tim

Toyota all weather mats suck, get WeatherTechs. Unless you are getting a certificate to spend for accessories as part of buying your truck at that dealer, I'd buy all the things you want from eBay or elsewhere. Almost assuredly, you will spend less than at the dealer.

Not sure if that price is good, but double check the sticker price against the invoice price at Edmunds.com to verify. That price from Boch? They are pretty good to deal with.

Yeah, the price is from Boch. Only problem is they're an hour away and they don't have the vehicle in stock. Acton Toyota is 20 minutes from my house and they have 2 brand new identical trucks on the lot in Silver. Hoping they'll beat the Boch Quote.

If they don't, Boch will probably trade them a vehicle they have for the one in Acton. I come from 2 hours away to buy at Boch, they have always beat the other dealers. Not that I'm a fanboy.

Boch is one of the highest volume dealers in New England. They don't care if they sell below invoice to make the deal, they'll just make it up on a sucker. I bought my last two Hondas there, both well below invoice.

Sign up for an account at USAA.com and then use their car buying service. You just type in the model you want and it spits out 3 different quotes. Then you take the lowest quote and shop it.

29.5k for a DCLB TRD sport sounds pretty darn okay to me.

Take a look at Autotrader for something with less than 30K miles that's less than 2 years old and tell me what you find. Most used Tacomas are selling for high 20s.

When I worked for a Toyota dealership, they took blank invoices and filled in the numbers they wanted. The window sticker prices were a total fabrication

That 33,156 is the MSRP. Every Toyota dealer I been to uses the MSRP as the 'List Price'. Never pay that. Dealer invoice is always going to be lower. How much lower? My recent experience its around $2500 lower going by KBB and Edmunds. Thats new and in stock vehicles. Also some dealers tack on a dealer fee or some other extra fee so beware of that. I'd go in and offer 3k less than sticker and see where it gets you.

$3k less than sticker is more than the offer they gave him!

I did this with Truecar and CarsDirect for a 2013 base level AC 4x4 2.7 5 spd and the msrp came out $25,430, invoice $24,345, and target price $24,045. Best dealer bid within 500 miles is $24,450. :(

Try USAA. I think you will get lower since they cater to the military, but have opened it up to the public now. Membership is free and I don't get spammed by them.
