Can I use the rear OEM leaf springs for the front of the leaf?

Ok so my Dakars didn't come with front bushings (or rear) but I got it for a good price. I bought 8 OEM bushings and pressed them in. I now noticed the stock front bushings look different. Can I use these or do I need to order another part. Toyota always they don't sell the front bushings. It comes with the leafs. Please advise ASAP.

 

There is a difference in the front (hanger end) & the rear (shackle end )

The rear is a full width bushing side to side within the shackle itself. The front is slightly narrower with a knurled center sleeve (like little teeth) These teeth bite into the hanger when the nut is tightened remaining stationary while the rear floats & cycles with the shackle

 

But I could use these without any negative side effects right? I noticed aftermarket bushings for the leafs (poly ones) are identical front vs. rear.

Oh thats right you have the bushingless dakars right ?

I'd say you can but you might want to spread the front hangers just a tad before installing , it'll go alot easier & position the front first before the rear..

 

No, I actually have OEM ones. :/ I already pressed them in so I'm super hoping that I can use these.

 

Thats what I meant , you pressed OEM's into them.. did you fuck up & press the front into the rear etc: ??

In any event you can do it without any real issues I'd think , do it & just pay attention to your ride for a short bit looking for any weirdness...

 

No I pressed rear ones into both front and rear. My Dakars didn't come with front bushings. Toyota only sold rear bushings (the front ones ONLY come with the leafs). So I bought 8 of those and pressed it into all of em.

 

oh hell, you'll be ok, just grease the bolts but NOT THE BUSHING ITSELF....

 

Why not grease the bushings? :|

 

Because they're rubber... & rubber & petroleum based lubes dont mix, bushings will start to rot in not too long

 

Oh good cause I used a synth lube that's safe for rubber.

 

Can anyone else verify I'm good to go before I pull my rear leafs off?

 

You don't need any more validation dude... just do it already....

 

LOL, did it. No issues as far as I can tell. In fact the OEM front bushings wouldn't fit in the Dakar fronts anyway, too small.
