originally it was expected to be a week. only took 3 days to get everyone back in lights. sorry our union doesnt bid jobs for a certain amount of time and then finish early and sit around doing nothing

 

3. Got the Drivers side finished and bolted, but the bits were too dull to do the passenger side, and frankly, my arms were to sore from doing half the other side with a dull bit. I need to find better bits, three holes ate up two hard metal bits.

So, you're saying take an hour or so to grind down a carbide bit from a 1/2 inch chuck to a 1/4 inch chuck? Then drill the holes?

Nah. The drill wasn't the problem, it has lots of power, and with 2 batteries and a super fast charger, I never run out of power. I was taking it slow because I didn't want to overheat the drill too much (love that drill), but the bits sucked. One hole and they're dull.

Yeah, it does. Can't wait for the rest of it.

 

Grainger carries what's called a carbide bit. If I remember right, it's around $40 but it lasts.

Yeah, I was using cutting oil, just shitty bits. Picked up better ones today.

 

are they low speed drill bits?

shouldnt take an hour.. i guess if your useing a file...

i put a 1/2" bit in my vise and used my angle grinder to give it edges to fit the drill chulk tighter so it couldnt spin.. maybe 5 minutes total

yea the bits make a big difference. I have a set of milwaukee $20/ set drill bits and they are great through wood and even concrete, but drilling through a stainless steel table destroyed the 1/2'' bit and even after i sharpened it with a drill doctor it still isnt the same

 

Recommend investing in a drill doctor too
