Bed Mats

Hey guys, so I was wondering what you guys thought about bed mats for your trucks? Any problems with rust? Here's one i found just browsing

I have a Protecta Bed Mat...and love it.

I have a 2nd gen with the composite bed and I don't have to worry about rust. On my 2nd gen, when the bed gets wet....the water can get trapped under the mat. So - that might create a rust promoting situation for you 1st gen guys.

Have you thought about getting a spray-in bedliner? Or if you're on a budget, have you looked at Herculiner DIY kit?

 

I've had that mat in my last three trucks. They are durable and fit perfectly.

I've had it in my 04 for the last 3 years in The North West (lots of rain) and haven't had any rust issues, they dry just fine underneath.

 

I have that exact one in my truck. It fits good and keeps things from sliding around. The only thing I dont like about it is that it bubbles up in spots and wont lay completely flat. Alot of the reviews on Amazon say this too, but other than that its great. I herculined the bed then threw the mat down over it.

 

Good to know man, not much rain here in Wyoming so hopefully I wouldn't have any problems.

 

Don't know what brand it is, but it's made out of heavy black rubber and looks like the one mentioned previously. Bought it and put it in my truck in 1990. Moved it to my 1998 truck. No rust in either truck but there's a carpet padding between it and the steel bed.
