Hey guys, I just ate my first honda bumper (go me!) and I just purchased an ARB bumper with the light kit from 4WP to replace it with... I was advised by 4WP (and I usually don't listen to them, but I had thought of it before myself so when he brought it up it made sense) that if I ever plan on putting a winch on I'd better do it now and not later. So I figured why not flame my credit score and do all of it... I have the winch... The ARB should be here Wednesday, then I just need to schedule everything.

My question... I have a Ready Lift 3" kit on my truck right now. I plan on putting spacers and 285s in the future. Is this going to bring my truck down too much? Should I go ahead and purchase upgraded shocks or wait until I get the 285s? I have a DCLB just for reference and 265/70R17s now...

    As my truck sits today:

    And... The new winch :)

edit: to replace my bumper with...

P.S. The damage is on the other side... And just FYI I was kinda pissed to find out how much damage one can get from such a small impact. My F150 had a steel bumper, so maybe I'm just spoiled... Either way, the ARB will be a heck of a lot stronger than my plastic Tacoma bumper and the steel F150 bumper.

Also, if you're wondering why the tire is in the bed, its because when I got my exhaust done, the shop couldn't do it like I wanted unless I removed it from underneath. I've been thinking about just taking my flowmaster off and welding up a Cherry bomb extreme and dumping it before the rear axle. Thoughts?

Some bilsteins, OME 885's, and an AAL.
It probably not just shocks you need. Your gonna need some thing else for lift in the front. With All that extra weight, you'll probably need to change springs and shock or go to a coilover to keep the truck level. Otherwise when you throw everything on its gonna sag really bad in the front.

And wtf does eating a bumper mean?

Gotcha... Yeah, I'm not gonna have the money to do the coilovers anytime soon... Maybe in several months... I was thinking about just ordering some OME 886s, but maybe that's not the way to go...

"eating a bumper" - like slamming into it.

I'd run 886s on front (I am running 886s now without any weight) and as far as the winch, the first thing I would do if I were you is take apart the solenoid and put silicone anywhere water can get in. I had the controller box under the hood and never used it once and went through 1 rain storm and the contactor corroded on me.

How do the 886's ride? Did you do the coils as well?

Ya know, that sounds like a great idea! On my f150 I had the same winch in between the frame horns (3" body lift gave me enough room). I used it many many times but it stopped working on me after about 2 years... I was kinda upset, but after talking with some people it appears that it was indeed the solenoid that went bad. I will definitely be spreading some silicon around in there to keep water out. Thanks for the pics!

Another thing I was looking at were these Toytec/Bilstein coilovers... Since I have the 3" lift already, I really don't want to loose any height, and these go up to 3".... Otherwise I'd consider putting my current spacers on top of those coilovers or a different brand and setting the coilovers to 1 maybe 2 inches (figuring on the weight bringing it down quite a bit in the front)... Plus looking at my CV angles, I don't think I'd have any issue going up another inch:

They ride about the same as the spacer lift you are using without weight. Add an ARB and a winch and it will ride pretty good. 886 is the coil, if you are referring to the shock I am running the 886s with the OME 90000 shock.

Awesome! Thank you! I will probably be looking to go that route. Did you do the install yourself? Reason being, I saw a thread on here where a guy said you could remove the skid plate under the ARB and slide the winch in after install... I may do that route and return my winch and get the suspension taken care of.... I just wanted to get started on this setup now that insurance may help with it.

I always do my own work, not sure about the ARB though I would install the winch on the bumper before installing the bumper on the truck (just my opinion) maybe someone else can chime in, I'd put in to consideration the need for new UCAs if you get 886s, which will more than likely be the case.

My front end dropped over 1" on the stock springs when the ARB was added.....and this is without a winch.

 sorry to hear that. I've got the ARB on OME 886 on my 2006 DCSB, wanna take a ride? RaleighTaco and I could definitely lend a hand on install.

I have a 3in pro comp spacer lift on my truck...stock coils and shocks! I would never add that much weight to mine with stock suspension. Just my .02 these guys know what there talking about and I think that sandman614 has the exact setup that all these guys are recommending. If your local to raleigh go drive his truck like he has offered and look and see if you like the way it sits and rides. He wont bite:) and i will join sandman614 in helping install whatever you decide to go with.

you're running a spacer lift? that bumper will completely destroy your ride and lower the front a good inch.

putting that much extra weight on the front without upgrading the components supporting it is just asking for disappointment. I'd upgrade to eibach springs. they are 620lbs and will be more than enough to support your bumper as well as provide lift. or the heavy duty OME coils. but no spacers. no bueno.
