    :woot:

    Basically,

What's the job market like? I have a pretty decent job here, so I'd need something to do to offset the cost of school there

    And,

How's the weather year round? I know it snows during the winter, and as my truck is 2WD, should I consider getting a 4WD?

    I'll think of more

everything depends on the city/school you're thinking about. what do you plan on studying?

yes and no, he graduated and his job is taking him to a lot of places. but he just finished school at msu. i'm sure he could tell you lots about the campus and such

It really depends on where I end up going.

I'm looking at Environmental Engineering, Forestry, Fire Sciences and minoring in Native American Studies just because

As of now, I'm working in a tire shop and doing some mechanic work on the side, but I'm willing to do almost anything for work.

Still haven't fully decided what I'm going to school for, but that's what I'm spending this next year doing.

For wy you could get by with 2wd usually. Mt tho if your planing of driving the interstates throu the passes I'd want 4wd.

But 4wd is never a bad thing out here.

Job market is pretty good throughout Montana for part time jobs through school. I would definately consider 4wd. Especially if you live in Butte as its one giant hill. You can survive missoula or bozo with 2wd and alot of weight in the back but its still a pain.

Enviormental engineering I would say MT Tech, one of the best engineering schools IMO (and many others) or missoula if your looking at forestry. Either one will get you what your looking for by the sounds of it. If your engineering then I would say Tech.

I have a buddy who works at Les Schwab in missoula who I could see if he has an opening in missoula if you decide to go there, and butte has lots of opputunities as well.

Actually university of wy is one of the top engineering schools in the country too..plus cheaper.

Sadly I hate the town fnlaramie personally...

    Forestry I'd go Missoula tho

    Foresty definately missoula.

Wyo definately isnt cheaper, at least to the best of my knowledge.

At least not for me or my friend who is from out of state. She said it was the most expensive of the engineering schools she looked at for petroleum, and they had just started their program.

Really? Dang. Like 11k or less for me. Plus all wy natives that graduate get a wy state scholarship based in final high school GPA and ACT. Up t 2800 for 4 years.

Got paided to go to northwest college tho haha

But that's crazy. Even with woowee or whatever??

Yea, I didnt bother applying to Wyo simply because im from butte, new the reputation of the engineering programs and just made sense. But from what my roommate has told me she got that woowee or whatever deal and it was still way to much. I have no doubt its a great school tho, just didnt make sense to pay more for a new, untested(if thats the right way to put it) program as opposed to one with the reputation.

As Lisa said I am now working post-college. I was just in Fort Worth and am now in KC. I will be back down in Ft Worth for a while in about a month.

The job market in Bozo is quite strong. I know quite a few guys who got jobs in labs and such and made very good money. Bozeman is the fastest growing city in the state so you really should not have a whole lot of trouble finding work that will work with your school schedule even.

As for weather... You theoretically could get away with 2wd here IMO if you are careful about having weight in the bed and a light foot. The issue is that as mentioned the entire western portion of the state is very mountainous and generally rugged. If you want to get out and explore (which I am sure you will) is where you will find yourself at a disadvantage with the 2wd. It is just very good insurance here even if you never need it. Few vehicles are 2wd in MT because of the ever-changing conditions and the opportunities that are just out of reach with 2wd.

So, 4WD is necessary for the most part

I'll look more into Missoula and MT Tech for Forestry and Engineering.

And the job market's good!

I'll end up thinking of a lot more questions later

yeah, ditto on the 4wd. weather is super bipolar here in WY or MT. I've seen 60 degree swings in one day, ice and heat in the same day... Just have GOOD tires and 4wd when you want it.

not much of a job market near U of WY. keep that in mind.

You can live life in Montana without 4x4, but you can also live off just raw vegetables.
