Just a thought. Do with it what you will. $400 is equal to pocket lint. Why not hang on to the old engine and take your time and have a fun project? Rebuild it. Slowly buying high end parts like racing pistons, balance and blueprint the rotating parts, etc. Then when you are done, you can fog the motor and store it for when this one goes out. Then you will have a sweet JDM killer.

    Hello,

Truck runs amazing, new clutch is great with softer peddle, a little more power, love it. Direct bolt-in even thought its from a newer 2011 Tacoma with an auto trans, there was not one plug that did not match.

The 4th picture above shows the hidden black plug which sits between the AC compressor and engine block, that along with the drivers side components mentioned earlier is the only tricky part of this swap.

I have no use for this engine or wish to rebuild it, just listed on CL for $450.00. I am in central Minnesota if anyone on here is unfortunately local ;-).

My next project on this truck is to service the front and rear diffs and trans. 6 Speed manual, TRD with LSD. Any product recommendations?

If anyone has any questions on this swap please let me know.

Thanks again for all the info!

    Damon

450 seems like a steal TBH.

    Nice swap.

I hear you but I already have two other projects in the works (my sons cars), both are 1974 Toyota Corolla TE27 SR5 models. One has a 3TC / 5 speed and the other is getting a 2RZ / 5 speed now. I'm at my limit on JDM!

Sounds like it went smooth as silk! Color me impressed, took longer for me to swap my clutch.
I wouldn't be able to keep my hands off the old motor, especially with it out. I'd have to know what failed on it.

Front and rear diffs just regular old dino oil, no synthetic. Valvoline is my preference. Any brand friction modifier for the limited slip is fine. Some claim the Ford stuff is pretty good.

Redline MT-90 for the 6-speed oil.
