I'm interested in a Tacoma. I'd like to trade my Maxima in for one b/c I think our family needs a pickup. Tired of using the wife's new Highlander for "dirty" jobs here and there. I am not a heavy hauler/tower at all. Just the occasional Home Depot runs/larger item movements/lawn mower/etc.

She does not want 2 car payments right now, and we don't have that kind of cash to pay for it in full. We might wait until the HLer is paid off. Want to get a start on looking though.

    Here are the specs: http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...00&searchRadius=100&listingId=350322303&Log=0
2007, double cab, 2wd, TRD Sport, 72K miles for $18,588. The KBB private party value is about $17,000. Wonder if I could get them to come down to that.

    Anyways, what are your thoughts?

i paid 18800 not including taxes this last december for a 2007 2wd double cab, 66000 miles and mines not a sport. that was what sold me on top of that mine was in pristine condition except for a minor door ding so besides all other things look at the condition of the truck.

Tacomas are very good/dependable trucks and hold their value well. That seems to be a very good deal for that truck. I have an '07 w/ 73k miles and was offered 21k for it a couple of weeks ago. You may be able to get them down some but that seems to be a fair price to me.

Tacomas are known for having really high resale values, you might think a 6 year old truck isn't worth 18k, but when you have a vehicle that lasts twice as long as the American made counterparts, they are worth their weight in gold in the long run. 17-18 would be a great deal on that truck.

oh and i dont think they are going to budge much on the price because mine was originally at 19200 and KBB was like 17,700 or something, but i know values can vary depending on the area.

I bought my '08 AC 4x4 TRD Sport for $17.7k w/ 64k from a dealership. I'd suspect there are better deals out there, but I suppose it depends on the region you live in.

Thanks for the replies! If anyone looked at the pics from that link, does this actually look like a TRD? Looks a little plain to me--like someone added the hood scoop and sticker to a regular one. I'm not all that familiar with Tacomas yet though. Please keep your opinions coming!

I live in the Dallas/FT Worth area. You'd think there'd be some good deals, but I can't find a 2006/newer DC for under $16K w/ under 150K miles (well they have Salvage titles if they are that low).

That price seems high to me, but then I am a tight fisted old codger. If I were in your shoes I would get a trailer to pull behind the Toyota for HD runs, etc. When it makes more financial sense and I found a screaming deal on a Tacoma I would jump on it. But then, does the purchase of a Tacoma have to make financial sense? :)

The trailer's not a bad idea. Rather get a Tacoma though :D

In the beginning of June, I bought an 08 AC TRD SR5 Off Road 4x4 V6 Auto with 32,700 miles for $19999. Came with a Leer 700 hard shell cover. Excellent condition. Located in NYS. Truck appears to have been garaged and limited or no hard use.

2 WD in an 07 DC,I would think, should bring abit less than what they are asking. But then again, someone in need of a 2WD will jump on it if you don't. They are that much in demand.
