So I've been browsing different suspension setups for first gens... and i always see things like "long travel", "mid travel", "extended travel", etc. But i'm kinda curious... does anyone have actual figures about how much wheel travel is achieved? How much travel does a stock taco have vs. Icon ext travel coilovers? I've seen solo motorsports 14" spindle long travel setup but seems like thats the only one that gives an actual measurement of how much travel the wheel has... :notsure:

Mid travel may get you very minimal numbers, Mid travel is keeping your stock LCA moving to an upgraded UCA and Coil over. Basically have better valving and use out of your stock inches.

Long Travel Is extended length UCAs and LCAs. Which by nature will give you more travel. most kits range between 14-19" of travel. not recommended for casual offroading and shallow pockets.

And that just deals with the front.

For Mid travel rear you can get bolt on components and for long travel expect some serious fab work to get what you desire.

I know nothing about MT really and not very much about LT really either. (thats why someone else is building my truck)

more people should chime in soon

Yea i get the concept and what parts are replaced... I'm just kinda curious as to what the measurments are. I have no plans on doing a L/T setup on my truck... just wondering if a mid-travel would even be worth it or just stick with a standard travel coilover.

How heavy do you plan on running your truck?

There are some very capable Mid travel Set ups that I believe if you want a solid bolt on kit will serve you honorably.

From what I understand, stock WHEEL travel is around 8". When you get extended travel coilovers, you gain an inch more travel out of the coilover. I'm not sure what this equates to as far as added wheel travel but to achieve maximum travel from a extended travel coilover, you need UCAs with uniballs. Not only for alignment purposes but so the UCA can handle the added travel.

Yea i'm seriously looking at Icon. Thinking for a midtravel setup getting the Ext travel coilovers (non-resi) with TC UCA's, Icon Resi rear shocks, and 3 leaf progressive AAL. But thats 2500 bucks. At the same time I could get the std travel Icons, keep the stock UCA's, non resi rear shocks and the same 3 leaf AAL for just under 1700 bucks. I'm wondering if it's worth it to spend 800 more dollars for only 1 more inch of travel?
As far as weight, i have no plans for plate bumpers or trail armor so keepin around stock weight...

Thx for the reply's guys that's the info I was looking for. :)

6% Tint all around, Toyota all-weather floor mats, Toyota bed extender and skid plate, Python 991 remote-start alarm, oem cruise control and class III hitch were all installed within a couple months. I then installed Icon c/o's and Icon's 3-leaf aal with 17x9" GA9's and 285/70/17 Goodyear Duratrac's. The DRL mod was done, as was a custom rack setup similar to the org. cross bars. Blacked out headlights bought online, and a BOSS 1500 under-seat sub installed along with a Pioneer double-din DVD player
    BUMP on this question!

For 1 more inch it isn't worth it. (No pun intended)

I might be late on this topic. But I have a ‘15 and I’m running a stage 4 icon lift. Ever since I switched, I’m not exaggerating when I say they can barely keep up with my pace on the dirt when we hit the trails. Kit itself was about 2400 if I’m not mistaken. So for the extra travel I got out of it and the vehicle specific tuning on the shocks, I’d say is 100% worth it (until you have to take it off and ship it for service) other than that, I’d say spend the extra bucks
