I am interested in how much your mpg's dropped. For example "I went from 18mpg with 265's to 16 with 285's." I'm wanting to get a idea of how much drop would be expected. Rather then just a thread with varying mpg results due to different conditions and driving habits.

20+/- to 17ish from stock AT20's to 285/75/16 KM2's. Well worth it to me.

Id say its barely even noticeable man. You get used to it. I went from stock BFGs to 285 duratracs and noticed a little drop I think it was around 1 mpg. But who cares, they make your truck more badass and more capable.

Bada$$,yes. More capable, mehhh. You only gain a inch ground clearance over 265/75. If you wheel a lot. I think it's worth it. But if you drive mainly street and mpg is important. I don't think 1 inch ground clearance is worth -2mpg

Well than sounds like you have made your decision. If you want MPG for mainly street than buy a Honda Civic. Only makes sense.

Built for maximum low end torque, tooter II.VII intake manifold spacer, LCE long tube header, Injen long tube intake, 2,900 rpm torque peak.

Did you account for your odometer reading 3.5% slower with the 285's?

That means that it will show 3.5% less miles travelled than you actually travelled, if your odometer was calibrated for the 265's.

That accounts for .6mpg of your loss.

If the 265 tire is 31" (stock) and the 285 tire is 33", the difference is 6.5%. ;) If you are getting 16 mpg on the 285 tire on stock odometer calibration, then real mpg is 16 x 1.065 = 17 mpg.

this is a very good point. Ya my new tires going on soon will be 265/75. Since I'm still paying off the truck. It won't see anything more then mild trails. I understand I have a truck. So mpg is poor regardless. But I also want to get the best mpg I logically can

I'm actually trying to figure how i dropped to 11 mpg on 285/75/16. Never noticed till now how bad it had gotten because i only drive about 10 miles round trip to work.

Short trips will decrease your mileage too, I have 285 duratracs and get around 300-320 to the tank.

Yea. I'll fill up, reset odometer and as soon as gas light comes on record that number and divide to get total average.

It's far more accurate to fill up again and use the gallon reading at the pump to calculate your mpgs.

Sorry to thread jack the OP but how can we all have such different readings aside from driving habits and terrain? And your occasional stretcher of the truth.
