I graduated from Anleny but my ex-wife is from Saydel and I've lived in the district since HS. Funny thing is that she lives in Ankeny now.

I am seeing a lot of central Iowa guys here. Has anyone looked into signing up for the Toyota event in August? (link below) This is held on private land about 12 miles south of Knoxville. I am considering taking my 2000 4Runner down, have never taken it down there. I have always taken my 85' 4Runner.

Looks like fun. Why is a Toyota event being promoted on the frontier site and not here?

I don't have any connection with Tall Corn Cruiser's, the club that is putting on the event, so I can't really confirm. My guess is that the club does not have a website that can accept on line payments. I am sure Luke from Frontier 4x4 offered to handle this for them. I believe he is a club member. As mentioned already Frontier 4x4 is in Chariton Iowa and is very involved in offroading in the state of Iowa.

FYI - Tall Corn Cruisers is a TLCA(Toyota Land Cruisers Association) club. No need to own a Land Cruiser to be a member.

you can find out more about Tall Corn Cruisers here.....

I do know the land pretty well. I have been there many times. I took my 97' Tacoma there once years ago. I had open diffs, 31's, and a 2.5" OME lift. I have seen stock trucks down there before. I wouldn't do it if it was raining a lot or really wet down there.

I want to go but I'm not sure I want to spend the $45 to get in for a day, plus gas down there. I've spent enough on fun lately.

Go for the entire weekend then. It averages out to be a lot less a day if I did my calculations correctly. :D

I've been thinking about wheeling for 1 day and possibly camping, too. Not sure yet, though. My tires aren't exactly A/Ts, either. Might be a gateway wheeling event, though. LOL

Yes and no. The land is approximately 300 acres. The trails are intertwined. There is one way into the trails and once you get down in there you can go different directions on different trails. Usually guys go on the trails in groups of 2 or 3 or even more. I have gone down on the trails by myself many times, but I also am very familar with the land and most trails. Some of those pictures are from a general playground area and some are on some trails that just happened to have big ruts and lots of water/mud in them. A stock truck can get down in to many different spots and from there take different short trails or just play around in the area called the "playground". The pictures you see that are basically hills with crushed rock/clay/dirt are from the playground area or near by it. You can get down there in a stock vehicle and do a lot of those short little climbs. From that area there are several trails that go into the wooded area of the land. Most of these trails are doable by a stock or mildly built truck.

Below are some different picture links from past events that might help.

looks like more than the 5 lugger would be willing to do to me (it's also not 4x4) but I'd still be down to ride with someone if they're going from Des Moines or Ames
