Sorry if someone else has already posted this, but I thought I'd share it because it appears our trucks are the preferred target. Read below.

SAN DIEGO – Authorities Friday asked for the public’s help in finding out who has been stealing catalytic converters from vehicles in Poway.

Eight catalytic converters have been stolen from vehicles in Poway since Saturday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, which said the thefts are occurring between the hours of 6 p.m. and 5 a.m.sheriff

The thieves’ vehicle of choice appears to be Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra pickup trucks, which have their catalytic converters bolted onto their undercarriages, authorities said.

The Sheriff’s Department estimates the cost to replace each stolen catalytic converter at between $800 and $1,000.

“It is believed the thieves are stealing them, removing the metals and selling them to recycling businesses,” according to a Sheriff’s Department statement.

The thefts were reported on Conley Street, Arikara Drive, Frame Road, Robison Boulevard, and Sam O Reno Road.

Anyone with information about the thefts was asked to call the Poway sheriff’s substation at 858-513-2800 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477.

Information leading to an arrest could be worth a reward of up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers.

Glad my mid skid blocks the cats enough so they can't get them off without removing skids.

Thee tweekers just hit em real quick with a sawzall. Bolt on or weld on make no difference. They chopped my flow regulators off my water lines at the shop a couple years ago and just left with a 1" waterline flooding the parking lot. We had several inches of water in the shop, offices and parking lot. The next week they hit a shop up the road who had a bronze dolphin water sculptiure in the front of the building and pulled the damn sculpture down, it was like 8ft tall, that's bold. Bet they partied for a week off that.

My shit pops that FUCKIN code all the time. Either Pending or Sets a hard code. Making the dealership figure it out. One of the normal culprits are spark plugs. When is the last time you changed them. Our trucks plugs are only good for 30000. A lot of people have literally to the day plugs go out. that and cleaning out the throttle body and maf would be the first steps

I cleaned the throttle body and changed spark plugs about a month ago. Check engine light came on when I started it up and drive a bit. Should I change them again or take it somewhere? My time frame is small.... Need a fix quick to pass smog. Registration due soon on the 31st

Pull plugs and take a look at them, check that the electrodes are sturdy. Sometimes they are loose and messes shit up. Autolites are especially prone to this. Will throw you into limp mode if its bad enuf

If you cant find a dead giveaway on the plugs I'd PM "speed freek" Jason. He is local and should be able to get you on track before your registration deadline.
