I've actually never rescued a cat out of a tree before. All the other departments I have worked for did not do it. This one allows it as long as it can be done safely.

I'm kind of surprised to hear that. All jokes aside I thought everyone stopped that years ago. Kind of cool to hear some depts still lend a hand.

Yeah some will still do it. If anything it's still a good PR thing. Gotta keep the votes coming in ya know.

Oh ok. I just read Quebec and Bellview and thought you worked there. You work in the Highlands near north HS? That's quite the commute from the ranch.

    Day 19 juice fast check-in:

    Starting Weight: 290.8
    Current Weight: 267.4
    Previous Weight: 267.4
    Lost since yesterday: 0.0 :-(
    Total Weight lost: 23.4

To say I'm frustrated by today's weigh-in would be an understatement. Especially considering I gained 0.2lbs yesterday. This made me decide to take a look at my progress that I've been tracking and I've lost only 3.0lbs this calendar week. A far cry from the pace I was on when I started which was over 10lbs per week. While I accepted the fact that this pace wouldn't continue I didn't expect it to drop off to nearly nothing. I mean, less than a half a pound per day is hardly worth denying myself food for and I'm relatively sure that introducing healthy foods in reasonable portions could attain this progress and plus I would be more able to work in exercise here and there as time presents itself. In short, I'm 10 days short of the 30 day mark and am considering breaking the fast. I may wait a few more days to see what happens but I'm not confident I'll just snap back to where I was or even close to it. I had hoped to lose around a pound per day based on the research I did and what other people in a similar situation lost. I started off really strong and since then things have really fizzled for me. I mean at this pace I would lose about ten pounds next month... hardly worth the effort. The last time this was frustrating and I wasn't going to overreact but I really haven't seen too much since then so this is indicating more of a trend than a temporary anomaly. I tried days of nothing but veggie juicing and that didn't help. I tried days of just fruit juicing and that didn't help. I tried upping my water intake and that didn't seem to help either. I'm at a loss and am currently considering if I'm going to see this through the full 60 days, cut it to 30 days or just kill it now. I don't want to give up but if I'm not getting anywhere near the progress I had expected I don't necessarily feel like I'm giving up. It has been a week after all. I just don't know at this point.

You're 2/3rds to 30 days ... I'd say push it, hit the 30 day mark and then review. Don't let the frustration break your determination.

.... and now you know why I'm not giving myself any kind of timeline.

12 days in to my combined raw eating & juicing plan & I'm down 11.8lbs. To know I've done this much already & haven't even started true juicing yet is keeping me optimistic.

On the upside my juicer arrived today. I'm ready to break this bad boy in.

I don't think I'm as much frustrated this time around. Last weekend I had a couple of days where I lost & gained and that was frustrating because I wasn't expecting it. Now I see that it can happen and does happen so this time around I think it's less frustration and more of an overall examination of the future of this juice fast. I mean, what if I stay with it for 10 days and it continues to produce no loss of even more gains? Could I possibly lose a quarter of a pound per day just having juice here and there and working in healthier foods than what I was eating before I started? Probably. Especially when I consider how I was eating before.

At least I officially started mine. ;)

That being said, I never really gave myself a definitive timeline. I stated out with a 'wait and see' approach as I learned more about it and saw what the effects were. My initial reaction was fantastic weight loss and I didn't really have the side effects that I read others had so it seemed like doing the 60 days I had seen a few do would be a good idea. I figured I would set my sights on 60lbs in 60 days and it would be no problem. Well, that was a great plan until the weight loss portion of the goal started deteriorating.

By the way, you'll love that juicer. It's pretty sweet and I see myself making fruits and vegetables a much bigger part of my diet moving forward whether I stick with the fast or not. That can't be a bad thing either way.
