^^^ Agreed. Flex will be reduced with your preloaded coils, but not the end of the world if you only do some light off roading.

You can also remove your sway bar to achieve a little more flex. Because your coils are preloaded roll won't be that bad, you just can't drive like a derpa-derp.

You will see a lot of benefit by removing those blocks and going with a better lift spring in the rear. Dakars are meant for overlanding (harsh trails and a loaded truck) so they can be a little stiff. You may be better served with the AllPro rear leafs, as they will give you a little more flex.

OME guru's: I plan on installing 885 on my 5100's(at 0) with stock uca. When I asked about compensating the drivers side lean I was told that about 1in20 people ordered the spacer from this source. Should I order and install the spacer with the install the first time? What's the likelihood of needing it?

Without using any sort of spacer to make up for the Taco lean my front left is 1/2" shorter than my right. I don't notice it, and don't much care. Install without and see if it bugs you or is even noticeable. If it you want to address it later the 1/4" top plate spacer from Wheelers can be easily installed after the fact and is cheap. It'll get you back 1/2" of lift.

I am new to the DIY world of Toyota and have realized, I have this truck and have driven it for 8 yrs and still don't know what it is.

How do I know if my truck is a prerunner, off road, x runner etc?

I know it's an SR5, but when I look for parts it never says SR5 it want's to know these other things.

I have googled, but am still confused. If anybody could point me to a very clear website to read or lay it out in black and white I would appreciate it.

Would Deaver 8's and old man emu 881's be a good combo for making my truck level? I have a sqweaky hoe and with 130K she needs a rebuild. I don't have time to wait to get them back. I might sell both hoes.

Kinda the wrong thread, this is for old man emu, which is a suspension lift. Prerunners are 2wd, x-runners are kinda like the performance street truck style of tacomas. SR5 is pretty much the upgraded base package, but it doesn't have as many upgrades as the trd offroads and trd sports. When you are looking for parts it shouldn't matter that your truck is a SR5 most of the time, do you have a 6 cylinder 4x4? Thats pretty much all you need to know.

Uh. Sorry. I thought 'old man emu' was a person or something like that. And it popped up because specifically I was searching for suspension information since I need to replace my shocks but all the parts have descriptions that confuse me.

I have 6 cyl, 4WD, long bed, double cab, SR5 trim and get bounced to hell for a mile after every speedbump. I always thought I had a tow pckg, but now know what to look for under the hood and will check. I do know it's not TRD. Guess that leaves me with a Base or an X runner which is closer than I was before.

Thank you for the help and sorry I'm in the wrong spot. I will be more careful.

Haha no need to apologize, you might be better off asking here anyway than starting a new thread. What you have is the SR5 package, which is a upgraded package from the base model. If you have a tow package you should have a reciever in the back, and the automatic transmision tacomas with the tow package have a transmision cooler which is located in front of the AC condensor (most people think its the radiator) right behind the grill. If you are looking to replace your stock suspension you can find a really good deal on the site, maybe start a new thread in the marketplace section, or browse around in your local section. Alot of people pull the stock suspension out right when they get the truck and upgrade. Just to let you know 05-13 suspension is all the same, but the TRD models have a stock upgraded suspension that will fit your truck. If you want to upgrade the suspension let us know what you are looking for and we will point you in the right direction.

I just want a good stiff suspension. My truck is 8 yrs old, stock, at this point as far as I know and I use it so I don't want any kind of changed off road, balance or towing capabilities. Mostly tow a camper, and camp far off the road and a little hauling for yard work on occasion. Had a bad experience recently with a mechanic so I have decided to go back to doing it myself. Used to do that on my old cars to save $$, now I guess I will do it to save peace of mind. ($500 brake job and 2 weeks later stranded with a $1000 brake repair in another state. NOT happy.)

I do pull, but recently found out the receiver can be added aftermarket so I am going to check under the hood for the tranny cooler to make sure I haven't been abusing my baby. I did max the towing capacity once and nabbed me a Tundra so I didn't have to anymore, but I like to know how much abuse I am giving so I know how much TLC to follow up with. I bought a 2005 used in early 2006, so I guess there is a chance it's not what I thought.

Any suggestion are appreciated, otherwise I will go to the marketplace and see what they have to say.

    None yet.
Hey I have been back and forth on this thread for about two months done a lot of searching and educating myself on the OME lift. I have a 2010 DCSB planning the OME full lift with 886 coils and Dakar's in the rear. I emailed Dan @ Wheelers offroad to get a quote going on my order, I requested the following:
Full OME kit with nitrochargers. and 886 coils.
    10mm enhancer kit.
    TC UCAS

My question is over the enhancer kit, I know the trim packer comes with the kit and I planned on putting that on. With a front and rear bumper by relentless do I need the enhancer kit as well to fit 285/75/16's or can I just use the trim packer to achieve enough space for those tires? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. And Dan if you read this it's not a knock on you at all I had just read in here before that people were running the enhancer and just trying to figure out what I gain from both of them.

All the trim packer does is address the Taco lean on the driver's side. It's not intended to add more overall lift on both sides. Fitting 285s has more to do with wheels it seems than lift. There's plenty of people on here with less lift than the OME gives that are running 285s.

^ you may only need it to level the truck. At best with the 13mm you'll reduce the rake to about 1/2". I recommend installing the lift and if you're itching to bring the front up a little more throw the 10mm spacers in after the fact. They'll fit with the stock studs so its a pretty clean install.

The 10mm spacers fit with the stock studs ?

    I doubt it

Will the stock studs work with the lean spacer, aka "trim packer" from OME?

Yes, the trim packer actually goes under the spring collar (or whatever you call the thing that holds the bottom of the spring on the shock), not on the top plate.

I have read this entire thread but wanted to ask some questions before I order the lift for my truck to make absolutely sure I am getting the right thing.

I have a 2007 double cab 4x4 with TRD. I plan on ordering the OME kit with 885's but not certain if I should AAL or get the Dakar springs. The most I would be pulling is like a 4wheeler or 16 foot boat since I have a diesel that I use for almost all my pulling. Would getting the Dakar still be that much of an advantage even though I don't pull much with my tacoma?

Also I don't plan on putting the 1/4" top plate spacers so that should give me around 2.5" and I would rather not change out my UCA's unless I have to. 2.5" shouldn't require me having to change out my UCA's right?

If your stock leafs are in good shape, and you don't haul/tow to much then i don't see why AAL wouldn't be a good setup for you, the dakars are pretty awesome though, a lot stronger than OEM leaf springs. 885s should get you around 2.5" on a double cab 4x4. Don't count on not needing UCAs, odds are your alignment will not be perfect with stock UCAs, but you may be able to get it good enough. IMO UCAs are worth installing the first time around.

Okay then I may just change the UCAs rather then the Dakars. What UCAs would you recommend? The reason I didn't want to put the top plate spacers was to prevent doing this but if I have to change the UCAs then I will probably go ahead with the full 3" lift then. Is there anything else that would change by going the full 3" instead of just the 2.5" without the spacers?
