For the less mechanically inclined of the bunch in here, I'm curious how frequently you have your vehicle serviced? Could be you do it yourself, or take it into the shop/dealership (craziness).

I'm not trying to be insulting, but I feel like there have been several threads with similar questions, and I don't understand why there is any question about any type of service interval. Toyota makes things really easy and tells you exactly whAt needs to be done when.

I used my five free 5K services at the dealer (LHM Toyota Albuquerque), no problems. I bought the Landcar service package, three 5K services for $75, used all of them without any problems. I'm not sure what to do next. Was thinking about buying a case of OEM filters & drain plug washers & having my son service the truck. I guess I'll decide when the maintenance light starts flashing.

Please excuse my thread jacking: Has anyone with the 2TR-FE engine that came with conventional oil & 5K oil change interval switched to synthetic oil AND the 10K oil change interval?

The 2TR-FE engine still has a 5K oil change interval even with synthetic oils as per Toyota.

You all know the recommended interval for oil change is 5000 miles, right? The old school 3000 mile interval is obsolete, and not sure where you got 7000 from?

3000 was never a factory recommended interval.

Before Toyota put "Maintenance Required" lights on the dash, they ran 5k severe and 7500 normal service intervals.
