    Most modern SD ammo all performs similarly across the board as long as it's good (HST, Gold Dot, etc.) They all expand about 2x their size (so .7" for 9mm, .8" for 40sw, .9" for 45acp.)

    I got a 45 even knowin this, because if it doesn't expand you still have a bigger hole. Next pistol will be a 9mm. Had a .40 and didn't really like it. 45 recoil is similar to 40 and capacity isn't a big enough plus to justify the 40.
