I get the technicalities involved, but am curious as to why many of the folks who have lifted their Tacos and performed the cal, still get that unnecessary 'adjustment' at the worst possible time.

I think the " push on into the oncoming lane " issue is actually the truck thinking you are going into a tail slide condition and it is trying to keep the rear end from coming around , unfortunately that pushes you into understeer and straight on if it happens to occur in the middle of a right hand corner

Completely agree with you...I'll call tomorrow. If they're willing to do it (under warranty), it can't hurt. Otherwise, I'll always wonder how far 'off' it really is.

The thing is, people say "ErMahGerd, my truck tried to push me into the other lane!", but (when VSC is working properly) you didn't have enough traction to complete the turn as intended anyway, so it was either oversteer or understeer, and most people can handle understeer better than oversteer.

Speaking from first-hand experience, oversteer is awesome when you can control it, and you can sometimes pull stuff you shouldn't have been able to make. But it takes a lot of practice to control it well, and when you lose it things get bad fast.

Ah pre-09 Tacomas. I can nose my bumper against a tree, break the tires loose, and do an apparent 150km/h until the wheels catch fire, and not a single computer to tell me differently!

ATRAC sounds cool and all, but having a manual truck that doesn't have the ability to press my brakes and remove my acceleration for me has a certain peace of mind.

That being said, take your truck into an icy parking lot and learn to control oversteer. It could save your bacon.

Since it never rains in Texas I don't have a lot to go off but it seems like my VSC is working fine with my OME lift. I've hit some pretty quick right hand turns with no issues. We did get a little rain and my truck was sliding a bit around a normal turn and it went off but seemed completely normal to me. When I had my alignment done, they reset my "ESC" which I assume is actual VSC.

So am I correct to say it's happens more frequently with a long-bed, lifted truck? Mine does it in the twistys. Left or right and most often when the road is banked through the turn. In this scenario, banked turn. The outside front wheel wants to scrub or slow. I guess what I'm saying is the yaw sensor may not be the culprit as much as the wheel speed differential that occurs in this case. Just a thought.

Why do people feel the need to post up telling the OP that they don't have the same problem as him ?

Hey thanks , that solves his issue

It's all good...lol. At the dealership now. The cal is covered under warranty. They're just checking for any other potential codes. I honestly don't think traction was the root cause, as I was driving relatively slow. However, if the VSC doesn't see things that way, maybe a cal will improve its data points.

We're talking about over-sensitive VSC , usually due to lift / bigger tires , not driving too fast for road conditions or whether you can control a drift or not

I know that. I was responding to your comments about how it was "unfortunate" that VSC makes you understeer. It's not "unfortunate", it's exactly what it was designed to do.

Let's also look back to my post...
