I just bought my Taco a couple months ago. Every day I pass a trail down the power lines on my way to work. I am just not ready to "pin stripe" it yet ha ha. How long did you guys wait to take yours off road?

Congrats on your truck! This is my 6th Toyota truck and those first few stripes or chips are always tough (for me) to swallow. I swear my Meguiars products though, and with a good coat of wax, most of those stripes will rub right out, and you'll be back to new. I just traded my 12 in for a black baja. I waited about 2 weeks for trails with no brush, and about a month before trails with light brush that barely touches/if ever the truck. I still avoid any heavy stuff. Many will tell you not to wheel if you don't want stripes, or be proud of your stripes. I disagree. While markings shouldn't keep you from exploring, there's nothing wrong with wanting to keep your truck looking sharp. After all, it's YOUR truck, and they are far from cheap. Have fun! :)

Straight off the lot, I'd be weary of private property though.

Thank you, First time I went out with the truck was about a month or two ago, mine is a 2011 so about a year or so but, I completely scratched up the right side of my truck, decided to get it repainted and got reamed like hell on here ahaa. But like said it's your truck if you get scratches and you don't care then good for you but if you want to have a dirty truck offroad and then be able to wash it and have it flawlessly shine then no problem with that.
I forgot what they say "Mom's good looks and dads something..." I really can't remember aha.

I do light wheeling with my truck to avoid the trail rash but if you want to go all out then do it

When I bought my 03 used I went from the dealer, stopped back at my place to grab some stuff then headed straight to a trail. As for the 09 I waited probably 4 months, but I got her new.

Bought it in FL, drove it home to AZ (32hr drive). I dropped off my bags at home, picked up some friends and went out that night.

Hey, it's your truck and you make the payments. Honestly the 1st real trail ride I went with 2 members on TW I smashed the shit out of both running boards and cringed when I heard them. Luckily it was just running boards and not the door. I was also already planning on getting sliders but loss the ability to resell the parts.

4 months after I got it I went down to Moab for a week of wheeling. Had a blast, now I go as often as I can. I have passed the point of caring about cutting into the truck or getting scratches or dents. I just backed my rear bedside into a rock a couple weeks ago and put a good dent in it. Chuckled and kept playing. Just take it out and play with it and see how you like it.
