With automatics, you need to be stopped and in Neutral. Does that same thing need to apply for the manual?

 

Turn the wheels and move until the gears line up. Once you're in 4Lo, you no longer need the clutch depressed for the locker to engage.

 

I don't know that it says that. Info was on TW and Max (Nevada) confirmed that the info was correct. That's good enough for me

On my FJ if the locker hadn't been used in a while it would take driving for a bit before it would finally lock in. after a couple cycles it would lock in pretty quick. drive forward and turn the steering wheel back and forth a bit. You only need to be in neutral to get to 4Lo. you always have to move a little bit before the locker will engage.

 

Clutch in too. I think that might be required.

 

Yes, just don't do that on pavement. make sure you're on dirt. You can hear the click when it locks in.
