 Hello TacomaWorld! Dropped off the check for a 2013 Black Tacoma DCSB TRD Sport 6sp. I've had it on order since May and it's finally here! Can't wait to drive it home. Have to wait a week or so to pick up the truck through, they're putting a S/C, new wheels, Katzkin leather seats and a bunch of other things on it right away. :yay:

Anyway, I've done a lot of research on her over the last 2 months while I was waiting for the truck to come in and I can't say enough how much of a help TW has been for me in making my first new vehicle purchase. I also can tell that this forum is going to drain my pockets pretty quick!

    Thanks everyone!

Hey memario, I seem to have come across your build many times while doing research on here. Thanks for the welcome and all your input on TW!

So does anyone know how a person changes their handle if they pulled the trigger on one too soon... Doing an all black truck was my initial intention but after reading and seeing about a bunch of other member's builds on here since May I've decided I need some shiny chrome in my life. I'm thinking more generic like TrdTacoTom or something of the sort.

Yeah, I've been looking for a loaded smaller truck with a manual that isn't a base model for years. I feel almost dumbfounded that I never came across a tacoma. The toyota site for my region doesn't list the double cab as having a manual as an option; my salesman actually informed me that the special order was possible. It was the final straw for me, although I didn't let him know that until the 5 hours of haggling was finished on all the accessories!

    Thanks!

Congrats on the new truck. You must be dying to get behind the wheel.

So, with the dealer throwing in all those goods for you... what mods are you going to go for after that?

No problem always happy to help

You are trying to make your door handles chrome?? I don't really hear of anyone doing that much in the TW community, but your best bet is probably Putco or some brand similar. A quick search left me empty handed, but I am sure that they are out there somewhere...

I am dying to get this thing out! Next week I'll be picking it up.

    Mods purchased with vehicle:
    • Katzkin leathers:
Ice Grey base with Dark Graphite accent in combo two-tone.
      Dark Graphite accent stitching.
TRD Sport Logo in the front seats top panel with TRD in red and Sport in black (seat is Ice Grey here in top panel.
Perforated where the Dark Graphite is to allow for heated and ventilation cooled seats.
Order up matching console cover this morning from jhuey8947 and am possibly getting the matching door covers. Console cover is dark graphite with Ice Grey stitching. Should look awesome!
    • TRD Catback Exhaust
    • TRD Supercharger
    • TRD Short Throw Shifter w/Grey TRD shift knob
    • Bed Extender
    • Bed Mat
    • Ballistic Wizard 18" Chrome Wheels with Silent Armor tires.
    • Learning TPMS sensors to learn the factories so I can put factories back on in winter without the dealer reprogramming the TPMS twice a year. Eventually I'll put winter performance tires on the factory rims and possibly paint the factory rims black.
    • Carpet mats for summer, WeatherTech Digifit Black for winter
    • WeatherTech dark smoke window vents
    • 50% tint on front (to be legal) and 35% over factory tint around back
    • BAK Roll-X tonneau cover
    • Undercarriage Rust Protection/Sound deadening guaranteed for 10 years

    Future mod list:
    • Custom accessory fuse block under hood
    • Pop-n-Lock tailgate
    • Hood struts
    • Inalfa 925 sunroof
    • Heated mirrors mod
    • Possibly Luverne baja bars
    • BHLM w/FX-R Stage IV and OSRAM
    • Smoked tail and bed lights
    • Under tonneau lights
    • Alpine INE-Z928HD Nav Monitor and all around Alpine system
    • Full in-vehicle dynamat sound deadening.
    • Security system with cell phone link.
    • 400W anytime mod with 110 in cab mod
    • Illuminated 4x4 switch and possibly changing dash LED colors
    • TRD boost gauge
    • LED dome/map lights
    • Oil catch can
    • Rear diff breather mod
    • Possibility of a 3" lift but if I do this it's going to be done right all around so it's a few years out.
    • Money Tree mod to pay for all these mods...

    Thanks!

The 2013 limited tacos have chrome handles and mirrors so they are easy to get. I'm not sure about that yet though given I want to use factory wheels in the winter. Dude, I love how your light bar looks. If you're moving to MN you'll need a front license plate though... And I can't tell what your tint is but 50% in front is the legal limit. I've gotten tickets for both of these. Really wish HomerTaco did 2012-2013 grills (I don't think he does iirc from his thread). I love that blacked out grill look.

I plan on keeping my truck registered in MT at least for a while (as my permanent origin of residence will remain there) although they have a front plate law as well. I know and ill put one back on eventually but I'm trying to figure out some sort of quick release for the front plate.

My front tint is 35% and I've never even sorta had a problem with them being too dark... :notsure:

This truck is gonna be awesome. If you ever need help with stuff in your mod list feel free to hit me up since ill be in the area soon enough.

Turns out the 18x9 wizards won't be in for over 3 months... apparently almost all ballistic 18x9 wheels for that matter. I've switched to XD Monsters and am going with the Stealth theme as originally planned. Two dealers in town swear that the 18x9 +18 offset will work with factory size tires. I've decided I'm not going to lift the truck anytime in the near future and MN has a bunch of state troopers that love pulling people over for wheels that stick out to far or for not having mud flaps. I hope they work... (Anyone want to help here??) Tire will be 265/60R18. I can't find a straight answer in all of TW from anyone that has run an 18x9 wheel with +18 offset. This should be a 5.7 bs wheel which should be 1/4" closer to the arm than stock, but since the wheel is 1.5" wider it should also pull the tire away from the UCA. Am I wrong here?

Well... I don't know the specs on the new 18" wheels, but I can only imagine that they are still 7.5" wide. That being said you will be at 7mm less inner clearance, but the wheel edge will sit about 30mm further out as compared to stock. I'm not stock anymore so I can't run out and look at the amount of spacing, but I'd imagine you'll be damn close.

They can stretch the tires to fit a 9" wheel and 1.5" isn't a HUGE deal, but I am pretty leery of having tires fit to a wheel that is not made for them. A tire that's on its specified wheel size may say 50psi cold. If the wheel is wider then the specified wheel the psi needs to be higher (say 60-65psi) so that the bead will seat correctly. I'm not personally a fan of that idea, but I suppose you can do what you want lol.

The tire is rated for a 7.5-9.5 inch wide wheel. A 265 tire is 10.4 inch wide, I would think that it would just look more squared up instead of really sucked in like the factory ones. I guess I'll find out today.

Alright, now I've got offset XD Monster 19x8 -12 offset wheels coming in tomorrow... In case anyone is wondering, the recommended offset for an 18x9 wheel is 0 to +15. After seeing the the factory tires had about 1/2 inch of clearance from the UCA ball joint there was no way I was going to bring that down further. Now that the tires are definitely going to be sticking out I've ordered some Bushwacker pocket style fender flares to help with keeping cops happy. Anyone have an idea on what I should expect for cost to factory color paint the flares? I would think it should be under 300 yes?

I've only put about 20 miles on the truck myself at this point even though I officially purchased it on July 12th. The truck has been back and forth between the dealer and accessory shop I went with getting all the accessories put on. The supercharger was supposed to be done today but the dealer forgot or ordered the wrong intercooler fit kit. That's what I was told at least. Apparently they ordered the wrong TRD exhaust as well because that's not supposed to be in now until Monday. So much for everything being in two weeks ago... I'm so anxious to drive this thing I could scream.

On another note, saw the TRD short through shifter installed in the truck today. Looks AWESOME. Love the grey TRD shift knob, I hadn't realize how large it really is.
