Mod complete. Bought and used the kit w/both relay and jumper mentioned in OP. Shipped to CT for ~$65. Original relay was a bit stuck on mine. That took the most time for me. The clips on it were in an inconspicuous location too (One on each side). Aside from that being a b!tch, pretty easy.

I purchased mine from the from a dealer on ebay for $65 shipped and installed it today on my 2011. Thanks for the how-to writeup!

Most difficult steps are removing the 'main' electrical harness (the one that has the safety cover) from the back of the fuse panel, removing the factory flasher and the grey jumper cover.

To remove the grey cover, I would suggest using some small to medium vice grips to snug the cover then back it out. That part alone took me as much time to take off as disassembling, reassembling and testing everything. I deformed the cover quite a bit, but luckily didn't damage the panel.

I also would suggest connecting and mounting the new flasher relay as the step just prior remounting the fuse panel. I had a physical interference problem trying to get it to fit past the steering column brackets, so I took it off and did what I just described. You don't want to be wiggling or yanking any of those expensive harnesses any more than necessary.

Makes the truck look so much better with those on during the day!

Seeing how this thread is still going, do the drl's turn off when the parking lights are on or only when the headlights are on?

i think when the parking lights are on it goes off.

What determines if a truck has these factory installed i see more of them with than without in san diego?

Anyone willing to part with their old relay? I actually don't like the DRL's. Thx!

Oh and don't the 2013 models have a DRL rotaton selection on the headlight switch?

Oh if it were just a switch replacement and a relay I might do it to my 2012.

Yeah it would be nice if I could add the 2013 headlight stalk with DRL on/off to my 2012 instead of replacing the jumpers/relay under the dash in order to have my DTRL off. But then they are always off and only way to turn them back on from what I can tell is to reverse the mod.

Wonder if that is an option? add 2013 stalk to 2012?

I'm thinking about doing this mod for my 2012 (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/191990-disable-drls-2012-works.html)

    Not manufacturers... laws.

Vehicles have required DRLs in Canada since the late 80s or 90s... not sure when, Oz has mentioned it.
DRLs are still optional in the US.

Anyone know how to disable DRL on a 2011 Tacoma. Would it be the reverse to the install above.

how do you keep the DRL from turning off when the headlights come on? I'm assuming it's a relay you can bypass or something, just don't know which one...
