Ok, well I'll look them up then. I've definitely driven cars with terrible ABS. My Subaru had pretty good ABS though, and I was hoping the Taco would be good too.

It's no skin off my back to press the button...or to hold it down for 3 seconds, when required. I'm content knowing things are OK with the truck. Pressin' on!

You have to hold the VSC button down for approx 3-5 seconds while stopped , the VSC OFF light and the ALSD ON light will illuminate , keep holding till the ALSD ON button goes out leaving only the VSC OFF button illuminated

If you just push the VSC button , it will re-engage at 30mph

Yeah, I've played with it today to become familiar. All this technology is new to me...and quite difficult to adapt to, coming from a simple, low-tech '98 F-150 4X4 for the last 13 years.

Glad I found this thread. Had about three bad experiences and
No idea what it was. Just knew that it happened when I went down a ramp to the right at a certain speed my tires would lock up and a beeping noise would go off in my truck. Going to have to look more into this vsc mod

Would it be possible to swap a couple of wires in the switch so that VSC defaults to off, and pressing the button would turn it on?

The system resets everytime you turn off the truck , so I would say no

Did you get the pedal chop / brake override ECM flash a while back? It should have superseded all of the older software versions.

But if the system reset uses the VSC switch wiring to turn it on when the motor is turned off, it would reset to off because the wires are reversed. Unless some mechanism, independent of the switch, turns VSC on when the motor is turned off.

I think the VSC comes on as a default start up parameter of the truck

    Yep, I was oversimplifying it.

I'll just have to remember to turn it off. Knowing it can steer me into a head-on should help.

I have tried this numerous times with my '12 but it always re-engages at 30mph. Anyone else?

Also, Has anyone addressed the potential for liability with the ABS mod? Seems to me that it could be a huge issue should certain circumstances arise.

It doesn't re-engage if done correctly

    Too few to list.
VSC will still kick on even when turned "off" doing the stop, hold for a few seconds process. I think this was discussed in another thread because the VSC is always lurking when turned "off" and will turn on when "Yaw rate is large". I found this out the hard way going up and down snowy moutain roads. No matter how many times I stopped or how long I held the button off, it turned back on at over 30mph. This is why I had to do the VSC/ABS switch mod.

Did the VSC light go back off at 30mph ?
