Well first of all, I'm the new owner of a 2013 DCSB TRD OR Tacoma.
I've been a hardcore jeep guy for many years and traded my baby, a 2012 JKU wrangler on 3.5" metalcloak lift and 35's for the Taco.

Been lurking here on the forum for a week now and feel like a noob as this IFS thing is pretty new to me.

Looking forward to learning a lot and I hope to enjoy the taco as much as you guys do.

I'm in GA by the way.

Welcome and good luck man! You will learn a lot here at TW and hear a lot of opinions as you start to get bit by the mod bug. A few words of advice for you
    1. Search before you ask
    2. Always do your own homework, everybody on here has different opinions as to what they like.
    3. Get involved in your local meets and members so you can see mods and pick the brains of the people who have dropped the cash.
    4. Be kind, respectful and hand out rep to the members who deserve it.
    5. Get pictures up of your ride and keep them up to date.. we all love Tacoma porn!

Well, I have a family of 4 including myself..... my wife is a "princess"...I love her to death!

sooooo....... my jeep started off as a daily driver and only intended to mod it "moderately"... well as most of you guys know.. the mod bug does not care about your wallet or your family's needs for a DD.

The jeep basically became anti-family friendly... even though it was a 4 door. The suspension was what we call a "Frankenstein lift" which basically means that it was a pieced together kit from various manufacturers. No sway bars at all.... LOTS OF TRAVEL.
Driving it anywhere outside of a trail is a challenge.... not so much for me as I was used to it and am a trained driver (work related) but more for my wife and kids that had to occupy the back seat.
DD'ing the Jeep had become a true headache. It needed to be on a trailer.
That says a lot for a 2012 LOL.
I loved the rig but knew I needed something I wasn't gonna be tempted to climb up a rock face.
My wife suggested getting rid of the Jeep for something more "practical" and get an older Jeep to destroy later down the road.

I battled my selfish addiction with being a responsible adult.
The responsible adult won... My best friend who is an avid Jeeper also just happened to be the sales manager at a local Toyota dealership. He had to get rid of his jeep for the same reasons and is planning on a dedicated trail rig also.
I had to think of what I could see myself driving other than a jeep and the Taco was the ONLY vehicle that I could picture myself in.
Mostly I think because I'm also an offroad racing fan..(which is non existent in the southeast)

My best friend gave me full retail for my Jeep at trade in which mind you was chopped and trimmed and lifted and scarred and scratched and even had a broken front windshield from my Jeep clubs last ride.... got 28K for it... with 30k miles.
I grabbed a great deal on a 2014 Tacoma double cab TRD off road for 31K out the door. (pays to have friends in the business) truck had 7 miles on it and also have a 5 year 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty as well.

been researching a lot and watching lots of offroading videos of the Taco.... I REALLY WISH I lived out west now.....(im originally from CA)
One thing that urked me was watching Taco's struggling on trails that I would have hit with open diffs in the jeep....maybe even 2 wheel drive.

but I'll have my crawler later on... I'm gonna go a different direction with the Taco... one I have never ventured before... I'm thinking of more of an overland style vehicle to use camping, traveling, and towing ATV's.

NONE of the trail systems we have here in the south will allow me to really "wheel" the taco.... looks like its gonna be mostly dirt road exploring for me now.

I LOVE the idea of the LT for the taco and love the look of the rigs set up that way... although as I mentioned in my OP, I have ZERO experience with IFS. I DO NOT plan on SAS for this rig. I'm gonna look into the LT just for thought and to satisfy my urge to learn the tech but am leaning to a 3" C/O lift.
I've done spacers in the jeeps temporarily just to be able to hit trails while gathering better parts for a full suspension, and it would get by but I do know the limitations and consequences of that set up.

My best friend in the Toyota business of course praised TRD parts for the lift. At this point in reading, I have read of NO ONE using or at least mentioning TRD suspension components as an upgrade. I WOULD LOVE MORE INFO IF SOMEONE HAS IT.

This sunday, I will be off line for at least a month with some work related traveling.... will be gone for awhile but will be back on here IMMEDIATELY.

There is no TRD suspension lift go with toytec for a good 3 inch lift and your good to go

Not sure if serious, or maybe I'm not understanding what you are trying to say. Welcome to TW.
