I love my Prerunner... I hate that i dont have the money i want to drop into it though... I feel the truck handles and rides as good as the 4x4 counterpart

    The better coast
Be happy with what you have. Saving up and getting something makes you a whole lot happier than just getting it

    x2!!!

I love my truck but wish my build wouldn't go so slow. But then again it's not as fun and exciting if you can just get everything at once. The wait time till there's extra money to get extras for my truck is part of the "build experience" I guess.

Exactly. Saved up from 2005 to 2011 to buy my truck. Anticipation was killing me the last year when I had "almost enough" to buy it but was still short a bit. Once I got it and the title was in my name it felt amazing and was worth the long wait.

My prerunner I seem to change my setup very often.
Love my prerunner since I bought it, honestly started doubting the 2wd
Capabilities and wanted to trade her in for 4x4 but this threads making me
Realize, I dont need no 4x4 haha would be nice though.

They are the TSS Texas special edition wheels. Bought them off a guy on CL when he "upgraded" to a chrome 20" wheel and tire package on his truck. Was stuck on getting a set of FJ wheels till I saw these, and lucked out finding them for a decent price.

I have a few questions if you all don't mind. I am looking to buy my first tacoma. I am currently living in the DC area and there is little to no snow and when it comes the city shuts down anyway, so I don't need 4WD here. However, I am probably going to move back to Colorado soon (within 5 years) and I will need 4WD for peace of mind. My question is, assuming price isn't an issue (it is, but I want to take that variable out) are there any other benefits to having a prerunner instead of a 4x4 right now?

Price was an issue, so assuming it isn't, it asking quite a bit. It was quite a bit cheaper for me to buy a used 2006 prerunner sport that a 4x4 sport. I got my 2006 super white prerunner double cab with 72,000 miles for $17,000. Which based on this site and people's opinions is a pretty fair price. The same set up in a 4x4 would run about 18-21k. The only plus side of having a prerunner on mostly pavment in my experience is less weight, which means about one more mpg.

In all honesty, I really love the 04 way more! the 3.4 is awesome. I do miss my 03. It was my first truck! Had no issues at all with her
