I've searched, but can't find anything. Are there plate bumpers that are geared more toward protection than high clearance? The ARB bumper seems to be the closest I can find. I'm not a big off roader, so extreme clearance isn't an issue with me. I just go where the animals and fish are. I do hit deer every couple years and it slows down my hunting if I have to get my truck fixed. My opinion is the high clearance may hurt mpg more than weight. I drive a lot, so I'm trying to minimize mpg loss. No prius comments

    Thanks

Why not have a local fab shop do it?

ARB would likely be your best bet. There are also Ranch Hand guards that are pretty stout (not like your typical grille guard).

Some of the vendors will make their bumpers out of aluminum rather than steel so that could save you some weight if that's a concern.

I don't trust the "locals" enough to do it. Besides...every redneck in Arkansas has a welder and think they can do anything. I'm looking for something proven.

Ranch guards are stout...I've seen that first hand. I think I like the look of plate bumpers better.

Also, I'm not planning on putting large tires on my truck and I wonder if high clearance would look funny. Current stockers are 265 65 17. I might go 265 70 17 or even leave it as is. I would support the bumper appropriately though...

Either type of bumper is going to hurt your aerodynamics on the highway, and either type is going to weigh significantly more than stock. It sounds like your major concern is front end protection from animal strikes, go with the ARB. That' what its designed for
