i feel kind of like a dick for posting this because i am currently employed with a decent job, and i know alot of people on TW aren't, and i'm not trying to come off rude or 'rub it in their face' type by posting this, but if your into praying and all that please read the following.

obviously times are tough. i have a decent job and i pay my bills on time without an issue. i dont have the funds to go out two or three times a week with the boys and have a good time. cant afford a starbucks coffee every day. have shitty ass benefits with my job, might as well be no benefits. have to go through hell just to ask for a day off even months in advance. i work nightshifts over the weekend (12+12+16), so i have off during the week, which is nice yes, but nightshift and no weekends suck obviously. this job is also unstable. i could lose it anyday, they are cutting people every minute it seems

i have a job interview tomorrow at the port by my house (where all the cars come from over seas and get processed, etc here), the part of the port i would be employed at is porsche/land rover/jaguar/volvo. so essentially im getting employed by all these car manufacturers. this job has AMAZING benefits that start day 1, 401k with company match (which i dont have, im only 21, so its not like im far behind, but it would be nice to start one) i would be working 7-3, 5 days a week. huge change. company christmas parties all inclusive down on a beach in florida. if i wanted to i would be able to lease vehicles at an EXTREME discount (ex: say a jaguar is 500 month lease, i would get it for approx 200, with no DP) and get a new one every 8k miles with. im still paying on my tacoma so it wouldnt be smart to do so but hey if im there long term, who knows.

i would be installing accessories on all the cars that come off the ships (spoilers/side steps/radios/switching out seats for diff colors etc) nothing too complicated but a very laborful job. up and down all day. a big difference then what i do now and i would get myself in alot better shape doing this which is a big hope for me. the pay would be extremely better then my current wage. almost a thousand more a month, and at my age, with no college education, will definetely go along way and help build my savings, maybe even build the tacoma

i had a quick phone interview this afternoon and am going sometime tomorrow to meet the guy and go from there and have another interview.

anyway, if you read that, and you say prayers every night, please send one my way. im paying off alot of medical bills and school loans right now and this could help lol

    update:

got a call around 10am to come on by, had to be escorted onto the port because i dont have a TWIC badge, so the guy had to jump through ropes just to get me on the port even though he was a head guy out there. was about a 5 minute car ride to where we went. asked him all the car manufacturers i would be working on/for. of course the ones i mentioned as well as subaru, aston martin, maserati, he even let me sit in a maserati and start it to test the new exhaust they just put on it. not sure of the model, but it was SEX.

he had to go help his boss so he got one of the lead installers/techs to show me around. told me what all id be doing, short throw shifters on stis, switching out seats, installing headunits, gps, changing oil. then i asked him how many techs were currently employed at the specific bay i would be in. he said 10. so then i asked how many quality associates they had (the people who check the techs/installers work to make sure it is 110% perfect) he said ONE. they had to bring people up from jacksonville this week because they are so understaffed there and they have 5000 new cars coming on friday. so i said, you know i could do that instead of its any easier on yall, he said that would be great, blah blah, so i went and filled out a job app, talked some more, told me if i do my job right and show im good at what i do and dont miss alot of errors from the techs and dont bs around, ill be going to baltimore once a month to help out the port up there. HELLO BIG MONEY. i would be working 7-4 (one hour lunch) 5 days a week, but for the next few months it would be 6 days because they are getting in cars like crazy. i said awesome, i love overtime. hehe truck $$$$$.

he told me its a good chance, he was gonna drop me off and go directly to the HR lady and give her my app, tell her what i want this that, and go from there. i applied for my TWIC badge after, $130 GEEZ. said that takes a little over a week. i hope i get the job and i can just get escorted onto the port everytime until my badge comes.

anyway, i hope i get it. he told me about employees leasing cars and he said after 60 days i would be able to lease a brand new sti for 180 a month lolololol. if i could sell my truck right now and get the payoff, i will be all over that lol.

anyway, thank you guys for not replying and not praying for me.

those TWIC badges are a PITA, before they made port workers use them i'd go down to work with dad, got paid 20 bucks a day to drive forklifts around and help dad.

    update

guy called me that i saw yesterday, asked me if i could come out there tomorrow morning at 9am to go over some things. sure no problem.

decided to check my email; got an email for the HR lady, shes drafting an offer letter as i type this ( so i assume that means i got the job )

and i've never had an offer letter before so this makes me feel like its actually a career rather than a job(which it is, tons of room for inside promotions and raises) and the car industry certainly isnt going anywhere so this is a pretty secure career/job

    woohoo!
