Hey guys, i'm looking into getting another set of tires for winter/hunting season, and would like some input from others about what tires are the best for the price, and also how they handle in the snow. My last set were the wranglers and they were awesome in the snow and mud, but i'm wanting to look around before I go buy another set of them. Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

As much ad I hate to admit it, Duratracs are likely your best bet for what you are planning to do

Siped KM2's. Not as good as the Duras on snow and ice but then again you did say MT's.

That's the same way i'm thinking, I'm guessing that's why more and more trucks are getting them lately.

I never had issues in my 2wd F150 prerunner in the snow with the A/T's.

I'm positive they aren't... My mud tires in the winter are just an accident waiting to happen which is why I run Dynapro ATMs now.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
If you can find a set of the original Wrangler MT/Rs (pre-kevlar) they have been an awesome tire for me. Not so great on ICE, but if they were siped they would be much better.

The lugs clean out well in mud/clay/snow, they have decent float in deeper powder, and still cut through thicker hard-pack snow/slush mix. They air down nicely, perform excellent on gravel, and flex extremely well for rock-crawling. 3-ply sidewall too.

and just fyi...M/T means "Maximum Traction" not "Mud Terrain" or "Mud Tire", while A/T does stand for "All-Terrain"

I would love to find a lightly used set of those bad boys. My buddy had some on his YJ (33x12.5) in high school. Never got stuck anywhere.

yup, if you do look for / find a set, make sure to check the DOT date. I wouldn't put a set on if there were manufactured over 5 years ago, though DOT accepts the safety ratings for tires less than 8 years old.

    *edit - It's 8 years now

Ya I have the Toyo A/T II's and love them but I might just get some duratracs again for in the winter. Definitely impressed with the Toyos and the 60k mile warranty is sweet too.

Search "treadwright" And look at the Gaurdog M/T's. They are the original MT/R tread pattern and a overall GREAT tire...

I've had a set of these on my f250 and now on my tacoma and a friend of mine has them on his dodge. Great performance great price and they last a very long time for an aggressive tread tire.
