Did some scratch removal today with the Porter Cable. In the process noticed I have some light swirl marks. What do you guys use to cut those?

Ducati has the dry clutch. It's stronger and grips harder I think. The wet clutch is like what we have in the auto transmission.

No, both are manual transmissions.

The Ducati dry clutch is really unforgiving and requires lots of maintenance

I'm not sure about the specifics though. Google it man lol

 

Ducati now offers both wet and Dry. Dry being optional. I've been looking at wet ones for the many reasons. Mostly longevity.

A dry clutch means just that, you have the clutch pack and no fluid cooling it. A wet clutch is similar to the clutch found in a manual transmission Tacoma, it has oil cooling the clutch packs. The difference between some motorcycles and cars though is some bikes use the same oil for the clutch as they do to cool the engine so they require a specific type of oil otherwise the clutch fries.

The dry clutch is like a race clutch, it wants to grab and go, not slipped and crawling in traffic. It builds heat very quickly which allows it to grab hard, but also means it overheats quickly if you try to slip it too much. Longevity isn't as good with the dry clutch vs. wet. Like many parts, higher performance means shorter life span. The wet clutch is not like an auto transmission, it's almost identical to the clutch found in a manual transmission, just a lot smaller. You can have a wet clutch that wants to grab like a dry clutch. I upgraded the springs and friction plates in my bike because I felt the stock ones weren't grabbing hard enough. The trade off is the lever becomes harder to pull with stiffer clutch springs but it's 100% worth it!

 

Wet's much better for hooligans like me, dry is just lurchy. On a road test on the 1198 dry it sucks you couldnt slip it much if any to creep up. Do it once you cant do it right after.

 

Wet is better for anyone who drives on a public road with any sort of traffic, stop lights or stop signs
