Yes. The average Global temp is up 1.03*, or .57* C (For you uncivilized people that havent accepted English as the Be All and End All of measurements), which makes it the 10th warmest year since 1880.

I never ruled that out , in fact I believe there is a natural warming trend , supplemented by a man-made warming trend

I just don't understand how people can still be in denial that there is a warming trend however it is occuring

That was for 2012, and it was the 10th highest on record since 1880. That means that there were 10 years that were hotter in the past. A change of +/- 1* means nothing, and most scientists dont get alarmed unless there is a change of more than 5*. To add, the time frame between 1880, and now, is such a small splinter of time, compared to the Earths age, It would be equivilant to taking a 2 second window of your activities in a day, and diagnosing how long you will live. Its great propaganda, and a nice medium to get someones agenda pushed into the news, but impractical. All it does, is make hippys scream "the sky is falling", and they all run out and use rocks for TP, stop shaving, and eat grass. Those actions have no affect on this rock. The most powerfull climatic influence, is nature itself. Volcanos, the Ocean, the Sun, etc., play more of a roll in climatic events than we do. We are but a fart in the wind, my northern Friend. Earth Quakes can shift the plates, and bring heat closer to the ice, thus causing it to melt. Volcanos and the Ocean spew CO2 on a daily basis, to the point it cant even be estimated. The Earth has cycled thru cold/hot spells in the past, and it will continue to do so. Future hippys are going to blame the next ice age on us, because we ate meat, and farted. Their off spring will blame the next one on them, as they ate grass, and didnt fart. And so on. Until Niburu hits the rock we call home, and sends it into a spiraling voyage into the Sun.

And 9 of them were since 2000 with 2005 and 2010 being the hottest ever on record.

    Where did you hear this?

There was a rather large story years ago on the issue in a magazine I subscribe too. they talked with (IIRC), about 5 climatologists.

If you ever find a copy online I'd be interested in reading it. The comment threw me off because as far as I'm aware a 5.0* +/- hasn't ever occurred so I wasn't sure if I had misunderstood the post.

Sure it has. We've had past "Ice Ages", as well as higher temps. it was a story in Popular Science, if you want to look it up. Not sure the year, or month.

My apologies; I'm late to the discussion and took it in the context of a change of that magnitude occcuring during recently recorded human history.
