why doesnt the USA eat more goat meat?

    I hate goats they are only good for crapping everywhere and eating other than that not worth eating I would take elk meat and venison over goat any day

    Goat milk cheese is a growing market, we have excellent Haystack Mt. goat cheese here in Boulder. I have no idea where the old goats get slaughtered, but they must. I see a few people offering goat meat at the farmer's market but haven't explored it.

    Had some excellent goat in Negril Jamaica years ago. :)

    crazy about goat meat- a lil expensive though than pork or reg. beef, well at our area here. We slow cooked goat stew (w/ potatoes, carrots, green peas, pepper corn, bay leaf on a thick tomato(e) sauce. etc. finish it with a fine chianti :drool: i tell ya once tasted, always wanted LOL

    As a cattle producer, go ahead. When you figure the price per pound to raise a couple goats yourself, you'll realize why more people aren't doing it. Plus you want us to quit using hormones we'll produce about half the food we do now and charge twice as much, but people don't realize that.

    One of my good friends is from Jamaica. Curry goat is good. Whenever he has a get together I ask him if he is going to have any.

    Don't like the smell.

    If goat catches on in the US, they'd probably start "high-density" farming like they did with pigs and chickens. (It was how the "chicken tax" on import pickups got started.)
