    Hi all,

I have a 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport with backup camera and looking to install the automatic pop and lock tailgate switch.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to override the switch. I currently have the factory hard top tonneau cover on the truck and I'm wondering if the lock fails, how will I ever get into the box of the truck? I was told from Pop and Lock that there is no way to override the locking mechanism. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Drill out the lock or call a locksmith.

You can get one with a key lock. That might be your best bet if you're worried about the power failing.

I have one. Nothing to drill out! The whole things is enclosed in the tailgate. I had some issues getting mine to work good, but since it has been great, no failures in 2 years or so. Trading the truck in in the spring and will leave it in there and get a new one. Got it after some dick stole my tool bag and life jackets out of the bed while I was fishing. The tailgate was able to be forced open from under the locked rear door of the cap.
