I traded my 07 Camry SE for my 03 tacoma and my mom and gf think I downgraded but I just ignore them. I know I ended up with the better vehicle and I really wanted to get back into a 4wd. I do miss the power of the V6 in the camry sometimes but ill be alright lol

I have a 96 Tacoma with 8,000 miles on it.....the engine that is. I have a Jasper in it. My truck is gonna be transporting my ass for a long time. I love it and I don't want anything else.

I have both sitting in my driveway. If given a choice, I'd keep my 2000 over my 2010 any day of the week. My 2000 has 190+K and it runs like a dream.

Broke my seat so it is all the way back, now the wife can't drive it
When me and the wife retire and travel the country camping,, and kids are gone. I will keep my house just so my 96 Tacoma has a place to stay. I'll never get rid of mine. Every time 1 is crushed, the value increases.

sounds like some people on here wouldn't buy a 64 GTO,66 chevell SS 396,or a hemi cuda, not to mention others. they are just too old! if I could have found a gen. 1 in good shape, with reasonable miles on it,and at a fair price,I would have bought it in a second. not really unhappy with 09 but perfer the gen.1 only my opinion.

i bought my first 2001 DC TRD new, ran it to 185K miles before I hit black ice and rolled it off the end of a bridge enbankment. Me and my dog survived. I went out and bought and 07 which I then sold after 4 months. I did not like it. I missed my 01. I then bought another 01 that I kept for 100K miles then sold it (had overheating problems). I then bought my current 02. I love these trucks. I hunt in the mountains and wheel my truck and like the size of them.
They hold their value like crazy. I don't see me owning any other truck. When I were this one one I will either replace the engine or try to find another low mileage on and pay top dollar for it I am sure. It will be harder to find over time thats for sure.

Guys I have a 1999 Toyota Tacoma xcab TRD! I absolutely love this model scenario witch I believe was changed in 2005.

Now the bad news, Toyota dealer made me take it off the road when I went in for the frame inspection . Said it was unsafe, and it was. But they won't fixit. Say there is no more frames available.
They are supposed to give me an offer for my truck according to DAR Toyota in Frederick Maryland, but I haven't heard anything yet (over a week)! I haven't had a vehicle to drive in2 weeks now!

However I really like this style/years of the Tocama, I really need some advice.

The only kind of comments I get on my 1st Gen is "How much longer are you going to hold onto this thing?" and "Let me know if you decide to sell it" As for looking old, I appreciate its soon to be classic styling, especially when the 3rd gens come out.

    Bone stock. For now.
I bought my '02 X-Cab PreRunner a year ago with a rebuilt title (it was t-boned). It has not given one single peep of trouble. It still runs like a champ, drives great. I've actually been looking into sourcing parts to do a 4x conversion. I love this thing! It's a beast!

I like my "old" truck. It was paid for a year and a half after I bought it and I've had it for 3 years. If I would have bought a new truck I would still be paying for it and probably wouldn't have half of the stuff done to it that I've done to my current one.

Old truck = low/no note and lots of mods :D

And to answer the original question. No, nobody has ever told me that my truck is old because most of my friends wish I would sell it to them lol.

I've owned 2 fourth gen 4Runners, and 2 Tacomas...one Second gen and one first. I sold my first gen and miss it like nothing else. I'm looking for one now, as a matter of fact. love the second gen.

My 04 (163,xxx miles) hasn't given me a bit of trouble. I have two guys at work that have told me when I want to get rid of it to let them know. One of them has a 1st gen already, so he knows how good they are. They other one just thinks it looks so great and likes that it is smaller than his full size Chevy.

I also have an 03 (170,xxx miles) and they both just keep running with regular maintenance.

    Can't beat a 1st gen!

First gen rocks!. One of my shocks was leaking so I replaced them all at Sears. First major repair for me so I'm not complaining The tech complimented me on the condition of my truck I'm only at 120K so I guess I shouldn't brag.
