I have a smaller Ryobi and it's been great. I own a Ridgid and it's starting to have issues with the battery not making good contact, in fairness it is older.

Skil or Craftsman..that laser sight is a must have.

Mike, I love the chop saw I have..probably my favorite of all my saws if I had to pick one.

I've got a corded craftsman circular saw with the laser. Works really well. Especially for someone like me who can never seem to make straight cuts unless I set up a jig to guide me, it really helps.

Kings are $93 a piece. They guy that pugga pointed me towards wants 80 shipped for the icons but they are 13", so ill need like 2" of preload. I offered the guy $75 shipped for the trd springs and it seemed like he was considering it, so we will see.

You and me both, that's the issue I have. I borrowed one with a laser sight about 10 yrs ago and was hooked instantly.

That guy you're buying the TRD coils from, was he selling the shocks also?

No, he didnt even list the springs for sale actually. He has a baja with a plate bumper and switched to 700lb springs. He got back to me and wants $100 shipped. I think ill just get the icon springs if they are still available, and like john said wait on different springs until i have more weight up front. I just dont like the idea of alot of preload, i think 2" of preload with 650lb springs would limit up travel more than 14" springs with 1" of preload.

The shock should dictate up and down travel, not the spring (actually, the LCA contacting the bump stops should be your uptravel limiter). Even with the preload, your spring shouldn't completely compress before your LCA hits the bump stops. I mean, it's not like you're airing the thing out like those left coasters :der:

Makes sense, and i know the coil wont be nearly fully compressed even at the bumps, but the more compressed the spring is the stiffer it is right? I dunno maybe my logic is completely wrong...im not an engineer :) and who says im not ganna be junping my truck?

You are correct, the more you compress the coil, the stiffer it would be but it shouldn't limit you from completely bottoming out (if you actually manage to take that big of a hit). The longer spring should ride better than the preloaded spring, I originally send you the Icon coil though thinking you wanted to replace the old, scuffed up coils from the ones you just bought.

I didn't say you wouldn't jump the truck, I just didn't think you'd air it out like the dune guys on the west coast. If you do, let me know because I want to be there for that!

Side note, new fog lights finally made it today :yay:

So would 5100's set to 3" be any better or worse than set to 2" with an 1" above plate spacer?

You can only set 5100's to 2.5", 1.75", or .85". Don't stack lifts, the point of 5100's is to not use a spacer.

5100's cant be set to 3". But it would be worst to load a spacer ontop of the 5100s from all my research. Thats what I was going todo originally.

Spacers in general are junk. I had them on my reg cab, and now have 5100's on my DCSB. It's night and day, really.

Tough call. When you stack the spacer above the coil and preload coil, you're kind of in the territory of stacking lifts. Short top plates, 1/2" or less, are used to compensate for lean or to eek out that last little bit of lift but 1" and over combined with a preloaded coil could start to lead to issues. In theory, I'd guess that the lower preload with the 1" top plate would ride softer than the higher preload. Riding 'better' can be arbitrary. I think the stock coils are too soft so some preload stiffens them up just the right amount.
