Contemplating getting another dog for a companion for Chara. Still undecided though. There's some cute ones at the rescue we got Chara from right now...

I was thinking in the future getting the 5100's with 885 coils, and the 1/2" spacer to make the full 3" of lift. Right now I have a top plate spacer making all the lift. Think I need new shocks anyways, so figured I'd get new coils while I'm at it.

It rides fine? I have mine at 1.75" right now. I have some OME 885x sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. Maybe I'll just sell them and bump my 5100's to 2.5" lol. I need a 1.5" AAL I have a 1.25" now but I think it'll be shorter than I want.

I'd go with the OME coils, screw preloading the shit out of your stock coils.

For an AAL, I would highly recommend the Wheelers or Icon 3-leaf AAL. Leave the overload leaf in place for 2" of lift which should pair with those 885's nicely and the ride is pretty nice.

Yes it rides perfect. Alignment is also in spec. If you put those 885's on you may start chopping tires, and need new UCA's... That's what happened to my reg cab. Ditched the spacers, put 885's on, and ride was the same, it also ruined tires in 2000 miles due to not being able to get aligned correctly. Its different for everyone, but until I can pick up a set of coil overs and UCA's, I'm sticking with my 5100's...

Haha, sounds fun. You going to try to do that this weekend, or will that be a long term project?

About 1000 miles on the icon springs, so now its between those, swap them myself, clean up the coilovers real well, figure out how to get the set screws out and replace them and no rebuild, or just send them to DSM, get king springs, have them rebuilt and let them deal with the set screws.

Send them to DSM and give them my address as the return address, done and done. Really, I'm only offering this to help you with the decision making process :D

You try a screw extractor like this: Got this a while ago while fixing some corroded stuff in my upstairs shower. They work very well, i'm sure the depot has them. I got them off Amazon

How many miles on the shocks? May not be a bad idea to have DSM or someone similar rebuild them if they have decent mileage on them. You could probably also get a rebuild kit and do it yourself for cheap. I don't think it's that difficult.

Ya that would help alot. Ftfy. Done and done

I haven't tried anything yet, i didn't notice they were rounded out until i was installing them. Something like that should work though.

35,000 miles. That was my original plan, i was going to send them to DSM right when i got them, while they had them i would have them throw on new springs. After i talked to them i found out they do custom valving for pretty much no extra charge, just the cost of the shims. So i decided to throw them on to see how they feel and i really like them, i don't think i would want them any softer or firmer. I haven't looked into rebuilding them much, i know i can buy oil directly from icon, then i would need to bring them somewhere to be re charged with nitrogen, and i think there is a few specialized tools i would need.

It's ok, I just wanted to try them out for a comparison with the 5100's. The 5100's are still doing well, at the price that guy was asking I could have resold them if I didn't like them. Probably for the better, I've got my eye on something else (not truck related)
