Yeah, in April it's still covered in deep snow. And unless you like walking through ice cold water, you want to wait for the snow to finish melting in the spring before hitting the upper falls. There's a stretch where the runoff floods across the gravel road (mid calf deep). That should be dry by now. This time of year, the falls are already slowing down (they'll still be running around 50% of peak).

As far as being crowded, you should be able to find parking. Lower falls just depends on timing. People don't stay there long so spots open up (and if you're in the Taco then you have more places to "park" :D ). Upper falls parking lot will depend on the desolation hikers.

This is one wild truck. The guys in it were pretty nice, they smiled and waved when I gave them a thumbs up. The even more wilder thing was that the driver had on some sort of crazy brass knuckle contraption with spikes sticking out. Long hair flowing, they kept making the truck have that diesel sound. But no smoke was coming out. I wanted to get a pic of the front because there were vents on the hood, hella lights all over the place and some kind of sharks fin. Straight out of Thunderdome.

I think to roll coal, you need some mods to the tune. Seems like such a waste too-pouring money out that 'exhaust' (the smoke is unburned fuel).

Bare metal just spray with paint. Half my frame is rustoleum. I normally spray with primer and coat over it with rustoleum bed liner. Thinks like shock bodies can be coated with fluid film.

Get out your biggest pair of channel locks and bend the sheet metal a little bit so the bolt can clear.

Yes, that's how the dealer service manual recommends to do it. You're not doing anything a shop mechanic wouldn't do if he needed to replace it.

I stripped my axle down to bare metal.
It has nothing but a coat of primer and bedliner on it...still running strong and I live in Tahoe.

I read somewhere you could cut the nub that sticks out, remove the rest of it and replace it with a new one from the dealership by putting it in from the other side.

Well anyway, that's what she said.. ;)

Don't put it in from the other side. The logic is that if the bolt goes in from the top and you lose the nut, you'll be OK. Put the bolt in from the bottom and the nut falls off, you run a good chance of losing the bolt as well-in which case you're screwed.

I would say over half of the people put them back in the opposite way, mine have been that way for 3 years on LT and no issues

It's whole lot easier to do it that way. I can see why.

Nothing much to look at I'm afraid, got the mount welded and replaced the bolts and bought some spares.
