Yes another rumor thread to keep us busy until it comes true:

I was shopping around for a new 4 Runner a couple of weeks back mainly out of curiosity. I decided that I'd rather have the functionality of a truck than an SUV since my family already has a 2011 Sienna as a family hauler. The truck is my run around vehicle. Anyway one of the dealers I contacted sent me this email today

    Steve,

I just wanted to let you know that the 2014 Tacoma, coming out at the end of this year, will have a redesign. Originally it was considered to be minor, but I saw some photos last week that if they are true, then Toyota may be doing some major work to it. I would be happy to keep you posted if you're interested.

    thanks,

I'm not expecting much. I'm really expecting the picture of that blue bloated truck that looks more like a Tundra. I will laugh my ass off if it's one of those photo-shopped 4 Runner pics or the A-BAT. Not getting my hopes up. I will definitely throw up the photo of what he sends, but I'm expecting the "Well we're not allowed to publish photos since Toyota hasn't authorized it's release BS".

its not often a salesman turns down a sell like that, He might be lying or he might be wanting bigger commission for selling a 2014. i used to be a salesman and you had to turn in a certain amount of sales a week or you got pinged.

Doesn't sound like he turned one down but was trying to build a lead for a future one.

Salesman don't know squat. I build Tacomas and Tundras every day. There is no change on the 2014 Tacoma. The Tundra is finally being redesigned for 2014 after having been the same for the last 7 yrs. Toyota is not going to do 2 redesigns in the same year. But if it's on the internet it must be true. :stirthepot:

Why? The other 75 weren't good enough to just continue with?

I expect a new Tacoma for 2015, (1995, 2005, 2015 see the pattern...) plus they just re-designed the 2012 front end, no way they would do another minor redesign that quickly... The Tacoma is one of their best selling vehicles right now, but it is getting a bit outdated. This shows with all the big reviewers rating it low lately. The Tundra wasn't keeping up with the other full-size rigs so it got re-designed already while the Tacoma is absolutely dominating the midsizes.

Either the salesman was trying to catch your attention to get you to come back in later (where he will tell you that it turns out those weren't true) or the minor changes are something like adding a little extra piece of chrome to the limited model or something like that. haha

Actually according to Toyota's sales numbers, the Tacoma is their 6th best selling vehicle, Ahead of the Tundra, 4 Runner, Sequoia and Land Cruiser.

All the rest of those are cars though, well and minivans. Guess I should have added "out of non-economic models" Cars typically get better mileage and people don't have the need for a pickup as much as just something to get from A to B.

But one of the salesmen I've been dealing with is extremely insistent that it's a redesign, right after he quoted me $11k for the TRD supercharger with install. He also told me that the TRD Sport Off Road package was rare, but he could get me one; at full MSRP of course. Well, in all fairness, that is a pretty rare package.

Than how would explain the sales numbers of the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado, both outsell The Camry (Toyota's #1 seller) and The Honda Accord (Honda's #1)

I thought Tacoma's out sold silverados for 2012, or was it just Sierras maybe.

This is correct; however, based on the June 2013 sales numbers, the top 10 sedans have outsold the top 10 trucks, 1.2 million to 1 million, so far this year.
