Right now. Swapping in new OEM cv axles. And some other stuff. Be doing some welding today

 

Why wouldn't you want a SFA? They can make a rig extremely capable and not suffer any of the IFS qualities...

Didn't do a ton this afternoon. I went to cody and paid for my title for the other truck and got it insured. So it's officially mine!!

Only swapped one haha driver side. Lost a lot of gear oil too..so ill get more tomorrow when I get engine oil.

I didn't do e passenger one as its leaking so I ordered a new seal for it. Be here Tuesday.

 

Is the seal on the passenger side leaking without every having the CV changed?

That seems unusual.

 

Yep. Leaking right where the civ goes in.

 

Started my rear bumper over haul. Tweaked the tire mount, added a lock in place pin, and finished the Jerry can holder.

I took tons of photos. But it's 3 am..so I'm going to sleep. Just got carried away forgot how much I enjoy building stuff.

Tomorrow hopefully I get the table done and then the bumper will be done.

Ok here we go.

So first I did the tire mount. As you can see the tire leans back a bit. I didn't like that





So I made a cut as close as I could with a cut off wheel



Then took the BFH to it and whalla!




Seemed to level it out..




I still wanted it angled forward a bit tho

So..made another cut in the same spot..



And more BFH time!



And this is how the tire will sit now. I like it.




Welded up the cut. Mark..are you taking notes?? This is how you weld




Next I did the part for the hole for my lock pin. I fabbed up this piece before I left out of boiler 1/4" plate with the cutting torch. Time to weld it on!

Drilled a 1/2" hole for the pin. Had to file it a tad bigger



And this is how the swing out sits when the pin is down and locked





And now the Jerry can mount! I started by making a box 14x7" out of 1.25" strap

Then I ended cutting it on the 7" side to weld to the sides of the side posts I had to allow it to be just over 8" wide. Why? Well my Jerry can had expanded from being in the sun and filled with gas. So I needed it wider then my original dimensions. It's no big deal as it fits perfect and the lower part holds it very tight as it is.




Now the over the top locking strap.

I purchased some 1" hinges and a 1" flip lock part. Bought them last year




Cut the hinge off the hole



Welded it to the 1" strap



Added a hinge



Another piece of strap





And another hinge



Welded it to the back post




Put on the lock hole on the front.




Added a weather tight locked..



And bam! Locked in Jerry can.




Gonna try and get the table done today.
