If this is the problem you should be able to pull the rear driveshaft and run it in front wheel drive and still get the vibes. When I was getting a weird noise I pulled the driveshaft and still had it and was able to pinpoint it to the ring and pinion. Mine was a sound though not a vibe.

    Side note :

Watched my video again on the computer this time , how noisy should the timing chain be ? I mean assuming the camera is right there and all , cause that is what the noise sounds like , a chain going around a sprocket

We're going to put the truck up on my buddy's hoist tomorrow and see if we can pinpoint the source of the noise

    OK

Kinda miserable and disappointed right now , can't figure out this stupid vibration

The noise issue seems to be nothing , there are no obvious noises under the truck in motion on the hoist , the proximity of the GoPro to the engine must have made it sound worse than it was .

The rear portion of the driveshaft does visually seem out of balance , looks almost bent between the slip yoke and the CB .

We are going to remove the driveshaft and go for a drive to try to isolate that the vibration is from the driveshaft , if that turns out to be the case we are going to send it to a driveshaft shop and have them check the balance but that kind of makes no sense to me as this is a new driveshaft and the vibe was there before

Sometimes I wish shit would just break , it would be easier to diagnose that way

I hope you get this figured out. I have a similar vibration and have given up chasing it. I'm hoping that when I change my carrier bearing that it will alleviate some of the vibrations.

Me too , pretty fed up with this right now

I want to do a bit more to my truck but I don't want to start adding more variables till I sort this out

OZ, I'm in the same boat. As I was fiddling around under the truck today I had the idea to measure the angle of my slip yoke compared to the 2nd shaft. Yoke was 10.0* and shaft was 9.2*. Could that mean the slip yoke was bent? I don't know? But now I'm thinking maybe.

    Found an interesting development today

I decided to go back to square 1 and measure and compare my front and rear pinion angles

I had done this previously and added 3* degree shims

Well , I obviously flipped my gauge or misread it or something settled , but right now my rear pinion measures 6* up compared to the front .

So when I measured a 3* difference before and added the 3* shims I obviously went the wrong way

    :notsure:

Gonna take the shims out and re-measure , might even end up installing them backwards

    :notsure:

Is the thick part of the shim at the rear side of the leaf? I know dumb? I didn't search your build pics. Do you have the shim and the CB drop?

It kinda sounds like the symptoms related to the bad rear diffs, the truck will likely run like this just fine forever since it has been this way since new and youve been able to eliminate a lot of variables already. My truck has this on occasion, had rear diff swapped out and sounds deadening mats installed under seat from dealer under a tsb, some improvement but still evident. Even had transmission changed and still same, driveshaft also as you know didnt help. I never did drive the truck without the ds installed to see what the result would be. Toyota eventually sent me a letter stating my truck was perfect and they were closing the case....

Currently the thick side of the shim is towards the rear as it is conventionally installed

    I removed my CB drop
