Intake Manifold Spacer 4.0l Coming!

    Having the material be aluminum vs plastic is irreverent. The plastic manifold is normally mounted to the aluminum block. putting another aluminum spacer would marginally change the intake temp if anything.

    better low-end = engine works less to accelerate from 0-30ish and aid in smoother shifting in the low gears.

    I've noticed a lot of casual driving (in my auto) that my truck won't shift from 1-2-3 until 3.5k+ rpms when it *could* shift into gears closer to 2k rpms, thus conserving some fuel running on less revs. saving gas here and there will give back an additional 1-2mpg/tank.

    My mileage can vary at least 2 or more miles per gallon just with different weather, road, or traffic conditions. Now an overall consistent average from documented fillups taken over time would be much more convincing...

    ...but then so would

    I think that it would ever so slightly lower temps because the same heat is being radiated in all directions from a slightly larger total mass of aluminum.

    the only way to know would be add a thermometer...Aluminum transfers heat so easily that it may or may not drop the temp.

    Is anyone going to do some tests to prove one way or another? Or is everyone going to keep speculating.

    That horse's ribs have to be mush by now.

    Is it really even necessary to test. Touch it. That mother will be hot. Touch the plastic. I bet it will not be nearly as much. Duh.

    Will the heat from the aluminum radiate? Yes. More so than plastic. Are the negative impacts from that small addition of aluminun greater than the positive impacts of air flow speed/hp/mpg/whatever? Probably not. Otherwise people wouldn't be saying there is some noticeable gain.

    Could it be better if it were plastic? Possibly. One guy made one from another OEM intake. I asked Grimmspeed if they would make a phenolic spacer. They won't do it unless there are a large quantity ordered.

    What is the debate about again? I'm lost

    I agree. Aluminum is best for small low risk production runs regardless of its temperature properties.

    I do 30264 miles just going to work each year.
    As you said, even at 1mpg it's a god send.

    I have that dynolicious app on my phone from a bunch of years ago, I could make a few runs and track the before/after the spacer. not sure if it will show much different numbers, but it should chart the acceleration/braking G's chart a little differently.

    probably the easiest way to ball-park it using the gps and accelerometers using a constant vehicle weight of 4200 lbs.

    can track 0-60mph in time, 0-1/4 mile distance time@mph.

    White, debadged, Mudflaps removed, ICON 2.5 in front, 2.0 in rear, all 4 corners have reservoirs, Spidertrax wheel spacers all around, BAMF bolt on sliders, Avid lightbar, oem transmission cooler converted to power steering cooler, aftermarket transmission cooler eliminating all oem transmission cooler stuff, remote mounted spin on transmission fluid filter TrueTrac rear differential, rear diff housing vented and filtered into left side bed box, URD MAF calibrator, Volant intake scoop into oem airbox, second filter removed, airbox internals smoothed, blended and polished throttle body, NST intake manifold spacer, Wet Okolee set covers, WeatherTech Digital Fit mats, inexpensive JVC single DIN, Scangage, AVS Stepshield door sill protectors, Doug Thorley Long Tube Headers, URD Y pipe with O2 sims.
    It has been a few weeks since these began being installed. Overall the topic has died to almost nil.

    Those that have installed them, are the mpg numbers stable, or consistent. Has anyone done the dyno runs and have more to offer.

    The seat of the pants impressions still remain better than oem?

    Not concerned or even worried about peak HP, just is the truck more drivable.

    definitely better mpg and more power. not lot of power but you can feel it getting on the freeway and just rolling on the throttle, it just keeps pulling. doing 65-70mph i get 20-22 mpg with it. i never saw that before the install.

    about 17-19 mpg at 65-70. and yes i do, 265/70/17 tires with a 3in lift and alloy rims that are heavier than the stock 16's. the tires are bf goodrich rugged terrain.
