    The tanker flipped into Lemon Cr which flows into the Slocan River which flows into the Columbia River. 35,000 litres has spilled into the creek and is now flowing down the Slocan River. They are planning on trapping it at the Dam before it reaches the Columbia.

    The local SAR groups there were tasked with providing the evacuation notices. Hopefully with fuel floating on the surface it can be easier to clean up or evaporate, and won't leave long lasting damage.

    We've had three recent fires in our area that threatened to become urban interface fires. The fuel mitigation work (thinning out the lower branches of coniferous trees) in some of these fires has made a difference in preventing these fires from getting past a rank two.

    Ive heard that most of the kerosene in the fuel has evaporated. But im sure there is still a bunch of oil residue remaining in the river. I believe Jet fuel is a mixture of kerosene and gasoline.

    I hope they can clean it up , there was a fuel spill here a few years ago into the Goldstream River and they are still dealing with it

    Jet Fuel A = very close to diesel without any lubrication additives, and also very similar in density to Kerosene fuel.

    example of long lasting impact; it can wipe out an entire generation of fish. I imagine the leak was so large in volume that it displaced water, or disrupted the ability to oxygenate the water. Either way pretty bad outcome.
