Calling all Virginians (Tidewater area)

All depends on what your planning on using it for...my wifes is a regular open yak..mine is an angler one

 

Not really planning on doing any fishing. Looking for something that we can do ocean and intercostal stuff.

Was kinda popping around CL to find something used...thoughts on these...

If your gonna do ocean you will want rudders

 

2nd ones are white water and won't track worth a damn in open water. The first 2 are going to be more traditional ocean yaks.

Sit inside vs sit on top is going to be a question of paddling style and miles.

Messing around and short day paddles Sit on top is going to win out, while long distance paddling and touring will be better suited to a sit inside.

Also remember that those sit insides will require some advanced practice with rolling if you flip as well as reentry in open water.

 

Where are most of you guys kayaking locally?

Thinking that for what the wife and I want to do a sit on top is best. Finding a ton of info online.

Here was the chrome grille that I painted Hammered Black:


In this picture you can kind of see the hammered effect. The color is more of a dark grey than black, I kinda like it, but may pick up a rattle can of color matched black.





I also debadged, but still have some ghosting of where the badges were. I am hoping that a few washes and waxes will fix it. It is not noticeable unless you are looking for it, but it bugs me.

I also spent the day making a cardboard template for the IFS skid. Since I have a 6" Pro-Comp lift using BudBuilt skids or the like will not work. I plan on using 3/16" A36 Steel for the skids. But I need to figure out how to go from the rear of the front differential subframe to aft of the TCase. Once I have it all template, I will have some buddies at the shop where I work take care of the bending, welding, and powdercoating (they work for beer on the weekends!!) If all goes well with the skids, I may see about tackling a front and rear plate bumper with swing away. If anyone has some suggestions or will let me measure off their existing bumpers, I'd appreciate it.

Other near term plans include making a bed rack similar to the All Pro Expo rack and a roof rack for the double cab. Some lights, RTT, sliders, etc.

Longer term I am wanting Deaver replacement leafs to get rid of the rear blocks, Icon extended coilovers to get rid of the spacers upfront, onboard air, and solar.

i sold the tacoma all i have is the rear lift to sell. one of the rear shocks got broke so im waiting on it to get replaced by the shop that jacked it up to sell them.
