I performed multiple searches on this topic with no luck--for folks running wheel spacers of ANY size:

Have you run into early front end component (or rear end component) failure due to the added stress of moving the tire and wheel further out? I am debating furiously between spacers and wheel well work--only some slight rub on driver side.:notsure:

Nobody knows anything about potential damage caused by the forces exerted as a result of spacers moving the wheel and tire further out from where the manufacturer designed them to be? Or maybe heard a real world example?

it will put more stress on bearings on front and rear of the truck.

if it is very little rub dont do spacers it aint worth it in the long run trust me

Basic spacers stress the lug studs, and reduce thread engagement which puts further stress on the nuts and studs.

Bolt-on spacers are no more damaging than wheels with a heavy offset.

if this makes you feel any better, i am a mechanic and work on lifted vehicles 90% of the time from tacomas to ford f-350 duallies. if anyone says that a spacer doesnt add premature wear to parts on the vehicle they are talking out of their ass. it adds extra stress on the axle bearings and hub bearings. this can be a very pricey fix so if you can i would stay away from them.

Annnnnnd since my truck is only 2 years old an aftermarket stresser would definitely give the dealer an out from covering a failure during the warranty period.

Wheel spacers are pretty benign from what I have heard.

yes that is a perfect reason for them to not cover something... seen it many times... could always pull the spacers off before going to the dealer :D

    THIS^^^

This is also true, but offset wheels will do the same thing. Move the center of the tire/wheel further away from the bearing in any way, be it spacers, or offset rims will do this.

    Yup.

I said they aren't any more damaging than offset wheels.
They are plenty damaging, but if you want to play, you have to pay.
Shortened service life is part of the game in offroad modifications. Lift kits kill your CVs and universals. Bigger tires and wheels are harder on your driveline and brakes. High-flow air filters allow more dirt to enter the engine.

Just reasons why highly modified vehicles not only don't recoup their accessory costs when sold, but more often than not, end up selling for less than book value.

But it's your truck. You know what you want to use it for, and what you HAVE to use it for. My truck HAS to carry me 90 miles a day to and from work, and I leave home at 5am so I can't run to the parts house and grab something for a quick repair and tell my boss I'm only going to be a couple of hours late.
If I had a place to park a "toy" truck, I'd pick up a 1st Gen and mod the piss out of it to play with in the desert.
