the reason i would want a diesel is because of the almost double in fuel economy

    Diesel FTW.

I'll admit I have a huge boner for it. I almost traded my Tacoma in on a CPO BMW X5d yesterday... then I realized I like the truck too much and will just strive to add the X5d to the stable in the future.

... unless Toyota comes out with a diesel Tacoma which I hear may happen in 2015-2016 ;)

That took a while, but IMO the Tacoma comes at the very bottom on my "wants" list, with the Amarok Canyon being on top.

After owning a 2012 VW GLI I cannot say enough about VW's. I owned an old '92 16v GTI and liked it, but it had problems. My 2012 GLI was amazing. Piles of power, 35mpg hwy(@62mph), and one of the nicest most refined interiors around. This interior in a Amarok TDI pickup getting 30mpg hwy and 300+ torque has me sold.

*On a side note, if you are looking for a midsize sedan. Check out the GLI, it is by far the best priced family sedan on the market. The base model here in Canada has amazing features like KESSY, 7" LCD, 2.0L Turbo engine(best engine ive driven) for $27,000.

Are you suggesting I insulted you for asking questions ?

Cause I don't think that is the case

to be quite honest , I can't follow the point you are trying to make

Most of the info was from Wiki, or straight from the manufacturer (used Aussie websites).

For starters gas is a by product of diesel. And diesel is better all around end of story :p.

This is where you disrespected me, & there are many other quotes I could throw up here as well if I wanted to waste my time trying to prove a point to someone who can't FOLLOW me very well. My original post on the matter at hand was simple, no need to drag it out & go back and forth but you can do that all day if you like.

My only concern with the tdi's is I've read they eat injection pumps. I'm pushing on with my 12v swap first anyway though so it'll be a couple years before I'm ready for something new.
