    pics of the damage:

    from the inside:

no idea how it happened, was just driving down road, no one ahead of me, then while 2-3 regular trucks and cars pass *WHACK*

didn't know rocks or whatever could come from oncoming traffic? either that or its a micro meteorite *shrugs*

I suppose if you had to pick a spot for it to happen, at the top and dead center with the rearview mirror isint too bad. can barely see it peeking out behind the cover for the wires that I pulled back to get a better pic. its not that visible from the outside either, but still, any damage to my truck makes me very sad.. :goingcrazy:

so how bad is it guys? can be fixed or needs replacement? help!

There are little kiosks set up in mall parking lots around here that would fix that (DECO windshield repair). Around 30 bucks, and if it doesn't work they'll give you your money back. They can fix chips **or cracks**

Good luck - get it done before it spreads.

If it starts to spider, the whole windshield would have to go I believe. Get it fixed soon.

Well it's out of your field ov view, so that's good. If its smaller than a quarter they should be able to fill it. My insurance company (State Farm) has zero deductible windshield repair/replacement. I have a crack in mine and will be replacing at 10K. I haven't had much luck lately in the windshield dept

ya im gonna go somewhere tomorrow morning to get it looked at / repaired. but its sunday so you guys are all I have to turn to atm.

the outside visible damage diameter is less than a quarter I would say, but the inside shows about a dozen stress fracture lines. the whole damaged area is around 2" in diameter looking from the inside. not sure how you measure those.

I have geico, not sure what they would do about it, if anything.

Insurance covers cracked windshields? Weird! Just go to a windshield place and get a new one if its bothering you.

Insurance covers windshields if you have it on your policy (slightly different than "glass coverage", which replaces side glass when vandalised, smashed by deer, etc)
Often, the deductible is more than the w/s is worth

Replacement time, it cannot be repaired ( cracks ). Some states require Insurance Co replacement at no deductible ( SC where I live :) is one of these ). So I never go for a repair replacement only for me.

Oem windshields are extremely expensive. I was told about $800 for the part itself. I had a windshield put in for 320ish.

if you dont have glass coverage then call and add it - then call back a week later and get the new windshield, you got a 2010 truck keep it nice

Last several windshields I had to have replaced cost $100.00 from my pocket. The rest was covered by insurance. It used to be no copay but that disappeared about 5 years ago.

its kinda cheap, but i had that happen one time and just put some clear silicone on/in it to keep moisture out and let it ride. with something like that though it should spread after just hitting a bump or big change in temp.

I think ill take it somewhere tomorrow and get an assessment on fix/replace before I tell geico anything.

ya im afraid all the little radiating fractures will spread over time even if the impact point is filled with something.

its clearly going to cost some amount of $, I just hope its not too much, not a good time for this...

Almost 100% the fractures will spread unless each one is drilled at the tip to stop it. Yours look pretty bad already. Plan on a replacement.

k, so if a replacement is necessary, should I insist on an oem part? I have no experience with windshield replacement, but are the cheaper non oem options as bad as I assume they will be? and how would they differ?
