So I have been tossing the idea around in my head about entering the truck pull. Next week Heartland truck and tractor pull comes into town. I want to do it just to see how well my pickup would do. BUT I really do not want to trash my pickup. I'll probably end up not doing it.
    Specs of my pickup
    06 w/ 6 speed
    3inch lift 33 inch duratracs
URD stage 3 sc and all the fixins

Sounds like fun.. I wouldn't though. Both trucks will have the ability to pull the other, it's more a timing/size/traction issue but hey if you want to, I want to know how you do. :)

I think he means more of a sled pull not truck on truck. But OP, I wouldn't. Not with a 6 speed. You'd do way more damage to your clutch than I think is worth it

x2, I wouldn't. All you might get out of it is bragging rights and there is a large potential for a sizable repair bill if things go poorly.

Yes it is the sled type. The truck on truck is just idiotic to me. And I unfortunately still have the stock clutch with my stage 3 supercharger. But if it did burn up it would give me a reason to get a better clutch haha. I was towing a 14, xxx lb tandem axle grain truck the other day to get some transmossion work done on the truck and that got me thinking about all this. The mechanic said my pickup souded like a 396 coming up the hill pulling that truck the he turned around and it was just a tacoma pulling a c60 tandem axle chevy. Haha

that's going to be extremely hard on the clutch, esp w/ the URD blower, those big diesels commonly run twin plate clutches etc, and can handle a little more stress. personally, I wouldn't attempt it

however, if you do, universal consensus is that we ALL want to see vid

4low, maybe 2nd or 3rd gear, depends on how the track is hooking and how good your clutch is

Do it, take vid. :) Do it in 4hi, and try getting off the line in 1st, make the shift to 2nd quickly so you can gain momentum and complete the pull in 2nd, modulate the throttle/wheelspin to keep it out of the limiter and complete the pull in 2nd. Gearing wise, this should let you hit a wheel speed of 60mph without going into the red, and with the SC, you should have enough torque to keep it moving/spinning at lower speeds near the end of the pull, all without any abuse to the clutch. I have absolutely no experience with this, just saying, going in blind, that's how I would try it.

Edit: Here's why I would use 4H with the 6speed. In 4L, you have a narrow speed range for each gear, so you will have to shift more often while gaining speed, and with each shift lose momentum. Given the Taco already has a big flat torque curve, made even better by the SC, I'd use 4H , get it in 2nd quick, and vary my speed/wheel spin using the throttle and RPM.

Shifting is almost not an option. You are pulling a sled that is getting heavier and digging more and more in the diet as you go. You would almost stop instantly if you tried to shift.

3rd 4L is almost the same as 1st in 4H.

He is running a centrifugal supercharger.... Not roots.

Low end may not actually be the best for him...... Prolly more mid/higher rpm.... Dunno if that effects the gearing u had pplanned or not. Just pointing out the tq curve possibly won't be the same as roots style

4th low would be similar to leaving a light in 2nd, sure you could get some clutch slip, but it'd take a lot of strain on the clutch, and by the time you got to the point where the clutch was full lock, sled would start getting heavy right away and drag you right down. take it slow, even if you are turning some rpm's, but don't let it bounce much, things will break quick
