I have a sport model Taco with the silver trim. I'm replacing all the silver in the center console with the black. When I get my touch screen installed, the whole dash needs to be dark in color. I'm either looking to buy or trade mine for a black one. Would prefer local but hit me up either way. Thanks.

If youe are talking about the trim peice around the 3 AC control knobs, it is so easy to pop off with a flathead screwdriver and paint it black, thats what I did. Ill try to get some pics on later

Sweet man. That's exactly what I was looking to do. I thought I had to swap out the entire a/c controls and stuff. I hope the color match was right on. I already have the black side vents and when the stereo gets replaced with a nav/touch screen, I was going to have a black backing as well.

Yeah, thats gonna look sweet man and should be a piece of cake! I just poked a pocketknife above the trim piece between the 2nd and 3rd knobs and pried down a little bit then was able to just pull it out with my hands. You have to do this to get at the bolts that hold on the headunit anyway for when you swap it. Then you just unscrew the trim piece from the AC control box thing from the back and paint:D The silver rings around the three knobs will still be silver though:( i don't think there is a way to get them black and still have the symbols

Let me know how it goes for you. I'm thinking about painting mine black. I think it will look good with how I did the stereo.

I hope I can get the finishes to match up though

I'm probably not going to paint it. I went to the junk yard last week and was expecting to buy two vent covers for the sides (that are now black) only to realize that that piece is a one-unit piece. I actually had to take the a/c controls out, the stereo out and the loosen the dash cluster a little by removing the 2 plastic screws above the speedometer only to install the sides of the center console. It was actually easy. So if the backing of the a/c controls can pop out, I'll probably just buy that piece at the junk yard. The silver dials won't bother me as they do match the trim around the tweeter and the dash board. I just was unsure about keeping the silver theme down the center and leaving the black on the sides. To me, it makes the center console look long and sleek instead of wide and busy.

Any idea on how much they want for that piece at a junkyard? I need to find one too!

$20 for the sides (one piece) of the center console. I thought that was a steal and a great deal. One minor nick, but its not noticeable unless you're looking for it. As far as the backing of the a/c... well if they have an a/c unit, the junk yard may not sell it separate than the controls. If they do, it should be no more than $10. I might go back to the place where I bought the side piece and see if they have that Taco there. I'd rather do that than paint it. Not sure I would get the quality from myself.

I didn't like that little chrome trim thats why I painted that peice in the first place. I just used satin Krylon fusion spray paint from walmart about $4

^ very nice. I shall consider that. I guess there's no need to swap a/c controls. Haha.
Lesson: Take the plate off and spray paint it.
    Case Closed!

I hear ya on that. I just bought some Krylon Fusion for plastic in Black Satin so I might try it tomorrow. I'm still trying to get the nerve to actually go for it because I'm worried that I'll figure out a way to mess it up.
