well he doesnt have the tools to do so...and i dont think he could do it honestly on the side of the road right now.

tell me about it....fucking toyota...if something was off they shoulda known...i have all my service done there (other than the fresh alignment at NTB yesterday)

I am hoping that it is just the u-joints. From what I could make out with trucks flying by....apparently its not the main shaft the u-joint that connects the main shaft is what broke...idk...my dads mechanical skills are quite lack luster now

yea thats what i was telling him...coulda been bad thankfully it was just hanging.

haha...i dunno about that but i think he was just kinda frusterated and freaking out being on the side of the highway out there.

he got it to a tractor trailer stop and a ways over was a 24 hour mechanic shop for tractor trailers so they are ripping it apart and he will limp it to their old house, unload it all and then take it to the dealer in the morning....lucky there is a toyota dealer 3 miles from our old house

havent been on here in a while, thought id pop in and say haayyy. how is everybody doing? good summer so far?

got around to finally installing these go rhino dominator II full stainless steel side steps today (girlfriend is vertically challenged, and has problems getting into the truck, i think she ripped her jeans once trying to get in) I'm happy with them, they do what they are supposed to, got the full SS after reading a lot of people having rust issues after only a few months with the powder coated ones. they look identical to nfab/smittybilts steps. but they do say go rhino on them. fitment is 6.5 out of 10, lol.

full set of wet okoles are also in production and should be on its way soon.

Yeah man, I got a 4x4 permit for brigantine beach, all these years I've been trying to find parking spots, paying meters, lugging chairs and coolers for blocks at various other towns along the shore. Now I drive right on the beach to my spot of choice, drop the tailgate and set up my spot. Best 175 bucks I've ever spent, the permit acts as a beach tag for everyone in the vehicle as well.

Glad to hear all is well here.

I plan to take it out to get dirty again. Just hit 11k miles, suspension and drivetrain is due for a workout, but no more narrow trail pin stripping for this black paint

well not so good. getting all the u-joints replaced. When he called I told him to just get them all done cause if one broke whatever cause that one to break has been working on the others.

They are ordering new drive shafts and should be in today or tomorrow. The guy said when the ujoints snapped, the truck was going so fast (65-70) that from snapping and spinning that fast and hitting shit under the truck they were bent up and they would need to replace them.

The exhaust heat shield was torn off, exhaust was kinda mangled (but said it would be fine no cracks in it) but will have to keep an eye on it. The housing is all marked up from where it was being pelted when he was trying to slow down but THANK GOD it is not cracked.

So yea...kinda an expensive shit show. I talked to my service advisor at Team Toyota - Ryan (greatest guy I have dealt with over there and always ask for him - he know me and my truck) and I asked him straight up about them greeses the u-joints and he said they are suppose to do that every time in...whether the techs did it or not is a different story. Guess I will have to put that on my list to do from now on
