Who are you to name call?

If YOU were the buyer, wouldn't you be upset and expect the seller to do the right thing?

He just used $5 as an example. The difference is actually $800.

Yes, but mostly, I'd just be concerned about voiding that check & maybe changing accts due to spreading personal info around to people you don't know and NOT buying with checks in the future.

The kharma thing - well yes, comes around goes around. Maybe the first buyer did this to someone else & now is just coming back around to him or the seller had this happen to him and is just passing it around. Could go either way.

By the way if you can live with your decision then go for it, there is no need to rationalize it. I don’t even know why you posted this in the first place; a quick Google search would have given you just as much info. If what you really wanted was for someone to pat you on the back and tell you it’s morally ok then this is probably the wrong place.

No, not looking for a pat on the back. Just looking to answer the original question, not all the side stuff.

To ridirect, the original quesiton is can the person legally make me sell him this item.

I tried the explaination of my predicament and said to him that if I was explained the situation and realized I had free monies of several thousand, i can go anywhere to buy.

But, I need the several thousand. I don't have that money and it's my opportunity to get out of a hole and get some breathing room.

He wouldn't let go because the item was so extremely under priced. I said that I'd understand his situation if he explained the he NEEDED the money and just let it go.

You speak of Karma coming back, perhaps as stated before, I was meant to enter into his life and show him that things in life may seem like they were meant to be and be a stroke of great luck, but that temptation and desire don't always lead to expected outcomes.

Anyway, thanks guys on the opinions, and, even the always productive reversion to name calling.

Again, just asking the legal question.

well another thing to take into consideration is who the guy is and how good his lawyer is. Legal binding or not, a good lawyer can change the minds of many a person and may make it where you do have to sell it to his client. I say sell to the first person so that there just aren't any more issues caused and it would be the correct thing to do.

This is how I got my house. Seller accepted my offer verbally, then decided she didn't want to sell because it was her second residence and would have to pay 30% in taxes on it.

Her verbal acceptance was binding and now here I am 13 yrs later sitting in this freaking money pit we call a house.

Well obviously if it’s legally binding then yes he can make you sell. Why don’t you put this in to perspective for us and give us the exact price of what you are selling. I mean no one is going to go though the trouble of suing you to save $200 but if it were $2000 it’s a different storey. If he sent you a check I dough it’s that much money.

We'll that’s well over the $500 verbal limit but I guess the question is if the sales post you put up on the other forum a legal contract. It’s a complete guess but I would think it is.

Sounds like some of you put greed before your morals. As they say Greed is the evil of all things. Your name and honor of your word should be worth more than any amount of money. That's what is wrong with our society today, to many people have it the other way around :(
