Anyone on here ever had to do any paint & body work? After a few years of abuse the paint on my hood is flaking off. Every time I look at it I want to :puke:

I wouldn't plastidip it. The dip would start doing same thing. Is just the hood the problem area. There is a body shop on 1560 that I guy I knew used he said it was only 100 bucks to get a hood painted if I remember right.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes Blackshirts just the hood is the problem so far. I really would like to repaint the whole truck, just can't afford it and the lift I recently started buying.

Hey, just an idea. I have a '91 Land Cruiser that I'm slowly bringing back to life and needed to touch up some paint. A friend told me about a business called Colortone on Fredricksburg and they will actually take your paint code, mix it up and put in in aerosol cans for you for $20 each. I bought one for my LC and the paint match is awesome even on a 22 year old truck. Maybe worth checking out to paint your hood. ps. They even gave me some extra mix in a regular can that I can apply with a brush for small areas.

BTW, the paint code for Toyota Super White is 040

I need some advice or help. I'm looking for some tires for my '91 Land Cruiser project. I only drive it on the weekends and mainly on the street, but I want some all terrain tires. I've already changed the wheels to 16" FJC wheels, but the tires are almost shot.

Any idea where I can get an inexpensive set of used tires in a 265/75/16 or 285/75/16? 50% tread or better would be fine, but I do want a matching set.

Here's a pic of the old girl (271K miles). A lift is in the not so distant future, but she's a blast and a beast as she sits. Fun to wrench on.

I painted the rear hatch cover on my truck. I know a hoods different (bigger surface area for paint and different material) but if you wanna take a shot I would tell you to diy. 90% of the result is in the prep. On a side note anyone know of a good audio shop in sa that are familiar with toyota truck sound systems? Mothers turned me away.

Really? Pretty sure a read somewhere on TW that fresh paint should add up to 15 hp. :burnrubber: haha JK man

Thanks for the info and the Super White paint code. If I get a wild hair I might just remove my hood and paint it with a gun in my garage now.

Try Custom Sounds. I don't know if they have any experience with toyota trucks but the shop off of 410 and Bandera did a awesome job on a friends tahoe. If you catch them at the right time they have some good deals.

For the love of all things holy do not go to custom sounds on San Pedro! Those guys can't install anything worth shit! I've re-installed and re-wired everything they've put in due to a stupidly half assed install... Terrible customer service as well. Just my .02

Yea it did. I think some members got pushed away buy some people's attitudes.

Last good sized meet we had a few members where making fun of others. And since then the thread seemed to have died. That's what I think happened. But I could be wrong.

Tony I still need to swap your LEDs man...
