A friend picked up the maps for the Oregon Back Country Discovery Route. I can't wait. The notes are hilarious.

In other news, nail in a truck tire last week. Destroyed a tube on my dirtbike this week. Apparently finding the only sinkhole in a 90acre field in 5th gear braaaaapped out is a great way to destroy tubes.

well, with my title it might get some girls to respond...but, there's a lot of words and it's really not that interesting. It was more of a tongue-in-cheek joke in response to the amount of replies a new female member gets as compared to a male. :D

    Nice maps..

I'd really like to do the WABDR/ORBDR.. But, not going to have any time until November. I'd assume snow would already make a Iot of it impassable by then?

Pages and pages of topo and gps points. Playboy for offroading addicts lol.

We where discussing the same thing. Its probably restricted to summer access for the most part. Unless you have an enormous amount of time and room for gas and recovery gear. Even if routes look passable, the weather can turn so fast sometimes.

We will probably only do the section that runs from Sisters to Prineville. This summer has sucked for free time and gas money. It will give us a chance to get familiar with what kind of prep we will need to do to tackle the longer sections. I've heard set aside 5-9 days for Route 5 alone.

Sounds like a good plan. I'd definitely recommend that Hell's Canyon trip, too - especially if you're running short on available time. Which, I happen to know all about...

Hell, I'll be home middle of October to Middle of January... Maybe I'll have to see how much snow if up there? WABDR to ORBDR then onward to San Diego would be epic.

I know that Cal Topo and Acme Mapper will give precipitation amount/type. So, that would most definitely show where the snow was at - as well as just standard NOAA forecasts. Not sure if either of them will provide a historical baseline/archive, though.

Things are pretty slow out here - but, the weather is nice (for the time being), which is a good thing. Banging around in 25 foot seas and 75 knot gusts is never a good thing. Get to play engineer for the next few trips. Should help to break up the monotony a little bit.

    70 days to go...

^^ Damn man, I drive a lot more for the job I have right now. A lot of it includes going through hay country. It does seem like a lot more shit is going down. I've seen at least 4 rigs overturned just on basic intersection turns. Do these guys not know how to drive or are the bales really that unpredictable when tied to a flatbed?

It's all been the massive bales too. Nothing that could be lifted by anything but a squeeze

I think I heard about all those. Are you in Marion County? I know some family friends had some bad stuff this summer so far
